Default Opening Private Training Facility; Insurance?

Hello everyone,

New to the forum, just wanted to say hi to everybody here. Sites looks great and some good advice on here.

Well my business partner and I are opening a personal training/group fitness studio and is nearing the reno mark, with opening day being April 1.

In regards to insurance, I am at a loss. I have been a PT for 5 years now but have only works in clubs or health facilities so insurance was taken care of for me.

What kind of insurance should I be looking for? INsurance for my PT's on an individual basis, all-encompassing insurance for the building, business and PT's? What are my options?

I am from Canada, does anyone have any leads on insurance companies that deal with health clubs?

Thanks in advance.

Jack

#1 Check with the companies which provide your personal training certifications

#2 Check with your local business commission as they may have specific requirements.

#3 DO NOT open your business until you get the proper insurance as it could come back to bite you in the ars big time

Default Insurance in Canada

We get our insurance through a company in BC called Speirs & Company. This is our facility insurance and training insurance for the EMPLOYEES only. If your trainers are going to be sub-contractors they MUST carry their own insurance. I am not sure what province you are in but check with the certifying body. In BC it is the BCRPA they can tell you different companies that offer insurance to trainers. if you are out East I would tlak with Can Fit Pro. I have to agree you must get this up and running before you open your doors!

Good Luck!

I think trainerinsurance.com is the right address for where I used to get mine. They were the best. Cheap but unbelievable coverage. Also home of the singing insurance agent!
