Default fitness boot camps

I am in the process of setting up a boot camp. I was wondering if its best to just design each session individually and set it up a hour before session drawing from a group of proven drills or is it best to have a laid out patter or system.

I base mine on movement patterns, not muscles.

We do a level change, a locomotion, a push, a pull, a twist, and a bridge.

It's ALL ground based. NO MACHINES!

This is just my opinion, but I always lean toward having a system. But then, I am always thinking long-term growth... i.e. how can I hand this off to other trainers quickly and easily if it takes off.

well im thinking of designing workouts on a daily basis to keep things different and fresh. That way my clients never know what to expect. Im not lookinf to get that big as to where i need other trainiers.

Break down and spend a little money on Jim Labadie's boot camp kit. For someone at your stage it would be especially valuable.

JP, have you purchased the boot camp product? Does it have any info on piercing that market?

Setting one up doesnt seem so hard as I too would be working more with movements rather than muscles.

Yeah, Jim's boot camp kit really talks a lot about how to market your boot camp. I have always had a close relationship with the local media, so when I do something new like a boot camp, I send out a press release, followed by a personal call to either the assignment desk or a reporter who I know at the station, and always seem to manage to get the cameras out to my BC. They're always looking for some interesting occasional fitness story (for their human interest section) that isn't typical or boring.

I also work the hell out of my connections through COC or other networking groups. Put together a powerpoint and call the HR dept of every business you can and offer to do a free lunch and learn. You will get a lot more response from the "Beat the Street" approach than traditional advertising.

Aside from the marketing does Labadie's bootcamp kit discuss designing the bootcamp as well?

What does the kit cover in terms of content?

It's audio files (3 CD's worth) and it pretty much covers everything on what you need to do to run a successful bootcamp.

Actually its 4 cds.

The first cd talks about marketing and then things to consider/logistics for setting up an indoor or outdoor camp.

The second cd (two tracks) talks about technical aspects about setting it up. So they talk about how they set up their bootcamp from warmups to exercises to cool down. They talk about exercises that they like and use, but ultimately your own bootcamp will have exercises that you are competent at doing yourself and teaching.

The third cd is a FAQ. So they talk about FAQs regarding insurance, studio fees, pricing, some advertising, a little bit more on business logistics, etc.

I havent done gone through the 4th yet. Its easy to zone out on these audio tracks.

You get a checklist document as well that summarizes things.
