Default I will be opening up my own gym soon

Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum.

Basically im here to soak up every piece of advice like a sponge. I will be opening up my own gym in the upcoming months. I already have a location and a personal training cert., but thats pretty much it. I am confident in my training knowledge and abilities, but need to learn about the business aspect.

basically i'm just going to be reading all of the archives here, and I would greatly appreciate any advice from you veterans!

Its going to be a small gym for me to personally train clients. I would like to specialize in training athletes, but I suppose I cannot be picky when I am just starting out.

my main concern is drawing in clients.

thanks everyone!

Welcome DTOM! Looking forward to your contributions. Let me know if I can be any assistance. I've been where you are. I do and I don't envy you.

Honestly? DON'T DO IT!!!

I do give a lot of advice in here... Your question is a little broad, but if there is any general advice I could give to any aspiring club owner is to be organized. Too many people get into this field with a dream, but no plan. It's fitness, but it is a business... There are some universal laws... Being organized is the one of them!

I also advise you to read the E-myth by Michael Gerber... Like TODAY! Probably one of the most important books ever written for entrepreneurs.

Welcome and good luck!

You made the first big step towards success that you can possibley make. I'm not going to wish you luck. If you read that and apply it, your success will have nothing to do with luck. It will just be the expression of a well-planned company.
