Default Internship

I was wondering how everyone found there internship. Is there any tips for looking for one. By the way I am looking into a strengh and conditioning coach or nutrtionist. I live in Connecticut as well. Any ideas, I would like to work hands on, I know you have to start from the bottom and work your way up. But I would really like an internship that I can get a real grasp of what my real job is gonna be like. I dont want to work in a hospital or at the front desk of a gym.

I would think your university would have hookups to most of the practitioners in the area for internships - esp. if they are requiring one for your program.

I'm in the same boat right now. I asked my university and didn't get any help on internships, except I was told if I really wanted to I could volunteer in their performance labs in the summer. I'm not sure how much I even believe that but its my worse case scenario right now.

Torrington, although in the summer time I may move somewhere else if an internship/job opportunity arises that I just can't pass up!

Barret: You're a bit far for me (in Hartford), but I do have a freind in Shelton that may be able to help.

Erik: You are not that far...if you are looking before summer, let me know.

I commute from the Hartford area to Fairfield County every day. It takes 90 minutes on average, and that's with rush hour traffic. It would probably be closer to 1 hr going the other way, opposite the traffic.

Barrett, it might be worth it for the practical experience, especially if there are no other opportunities closer to you.

John, I didn't even notice you were from Hartford...cool!

I certainly appreciate that a great deal. It's tough while I'm in school till end of April/early May but I am always interested in some side work/experience while I'm there. I go to UCONN, which isn't too far from Hartford either.

You're all too far from me, but I take interns from many of our universities here in Arkansas; UALR, UCA, ASU and U of A. My faves come from UCA, who has an EXCELLENT ex phys program, and one of the top PT schools in the US.
