I am finding a hard time getting liability insurance that covers my online portion of my business does any one have any tips on where i can look for a broker or agent that will cover this area?

Nelson, are you certified through NSCA? I know that they have a liability insurance for their certified members ... I don't know anything about it other than that, but it might be a starting place.

Thanks Julie, its a tricky task to get this business set up while conducting business already.

I am not certified through NSCA but will check them out for where i can get insurance here in Toronto.

I am currently launching a new website the one i have now was just a starting point and am now ready to take it to next level, i am so excited.

I am not so sure you need to pay liability insurance for giving advice on a site. A disclaimer should suffice. I have a really great insurance company though for my personal training and my facility. Do you train clients and/or own a facility?

Jean-Paul i do not have a facility, most of my work is done through email, phone and website.

So what your saying if i have a disclaimer on my website thats sufficient incase of any legal issues?

Absolutely. Make sure that your printed material indicates that you are free of any and all responsibility for someone getting hurt, dying, etc. I think I may have one that you can borrow from as a template. I'm a little swamped right now so give me till after the summit to come up with it. Just remind me after the 16th.

I also understand that I may stop any training session at anytime. By signing this document, I assume all risk for my health and well being and any resultant injury or mishap that may affect my well being or health in any way and hold harmless of any responsibility, the instructor, facility or persons involved with the program and testing procedures.



Are these 3 items enough to cover me?

That sounds pretty good. You are not personally observing these people, so all you are doing is advising them to do a certain routine. Since you aren't there physically though there is no guarantee that they are doing it properly, nor could you do CPR if they had a heart attack.

Thanks Jean-Paul i will make sure to have client this disclaimer and declaration before i start anything with them and since these documents cover my butt i got no worries to get insurance, WOW thats $$$ saved for marketing hehehe.

If most of the work is done thru email, phone, or website, how do you get the actual signature? Do you have them fax it? A couple of weeks ago, this issue came up, but with my poor memory, I can't remember what it was regarding.....anyway, it had something to do with an online confirmation instead of an actual signature......

Maxx i have them type there full name and also send me an email confirming that they understand i am not liable etc.
