Default Male caloric burn with GWF... does this make sense?

I had my husband (320 pounds, 6'3") wear my Gowearfit (reconfigured to his measurements) and he burned 5800 calories in one day just doing housework and taking care of my 18 month old daughter.

Is that even humanly possible?!!!

With that much weight, I'd say it's very possible. If I can burn 3,000 calories on a very active day at 130 lbs....well, he's over double my weight.

That is just astounding to me... and that he can eat over that to actually have gained 30-40 pounds over the past couple years? Wow.

I had my husband wear my GWF for a week and the highest burn days were the days he did housework, laundry, etc. It was like 3800 kcals I think. 44 yo, 5'8" 230 lbs.

Did he wear it for a few days to "configure" itself or was that his first day? Just curious, really, I have no idea what it would indicate if that were his first day or fifth.

Is it possible? Yes. Is it likely? Not really.

If you look at the studies for body weight compared to metabolic burn there is a very good pattern but as you get into heavier weight the pattern gets very scattered.

The Gowear fit is utilizing a software program based on the parameters that are based on these studies (I assume) and the heavier you are the more likely the results will not be accurate.

Oh, thanks for that Nacho. I was really wondering how he could possibly be burning so many calories and have gained quite a bit of weight over the past 2 years (and I see what he eats). I was expecting more along the lines of 3500 calories. Thanks again!

My hunch: If he is 320 pounds of muscle, then yes, if not, then no.

I'm with you here. It's a lot to be burning in one day, but at that weight, active all day, it is probably possible. That doesn't mean the GWF was right on, but it's possible. Eating over that consistently enough is pretty crazy though. The definite upside is, it won't be hard to reduce the intake.

No, it sure won't be hard to reduce that intake! lol

Since that post, he has been averaging about 4200 calories a day. Probably closer to what it should be. I am just wondering if I missed some important configuration when switching from his settings to mine!

4200 makes a whole lot more sense.

For reference.

When I was 320, and got rid of my weight I ate at about 2500 cals. I lost 2lbs a week like clockwork, so that puts me at about a 1000 calorie deficit which means I was burning 3500 or so a day.

Og.
