The Fat Loss TroubleshootThis is your place to troubleshoot your fat loss problems from nutrition to training. This section is led by Leigh Peele, author of "The Fat Loss Troubleshoot," the ultimate fat loss manual. If your results have slowed or stalled this is the place to come for advice for all your fat loss needs.
I originally posted this in the New Rules of Lifting for Women, and in the challenge forum. However, I'm not sure how widely people roam in the forums. So, considering the focus of this area is fat loss, I thought some women might be interested in joining the challenge. I'll copy in the basic rules here, and there's a link at the bottom of the page for anyone interested.
1. You can do any plan ... does NOT have to be NROL4W ... you can change plans mid-stream ... but you have to state what your plan is.
2. You MUST post your beginning stats (weight and measurements) and photos by EOD 9-8-09. You must also post pictures once each month. If you don't want to post your pictures, then this challenge isn't for you.
3. You are encouraged to keep a log in the training log forum. That way when you complain that you aren't making progress, we can look and see what you might/might not be doing that is contributing.
4. The challenge will run for 4 months ... you will be required to post progress photos and stats by the first Monday of each month. The final pics will be due on January 4, 2010. I'll have the threads up early, so there will be plenty of time each month to get those pics and stats up. Plan ahead for any events where you might need to post your pics early. I will post a running list of participants on the first Tuesday of every month of all remaining participants. So, go to your calendars right now and make yourself a note for the first Monday of every month so you won't miss picture day!
Not planning to join (I admire you ladies brave enough to post pix!) but I'm certainly watching and cheering everyone on.

Amanda, have you taken photos, even if you don't post them? You know, the front, side and back photos? You will be so happy in 2 months to have current pictures to compare. I was really surprised. Also, are you taking measurements? That has been a life saver for my ability to persevere with a grumpy scale.

Same, exept for I don't mind the pics, but I can't be bothered to do monthly measurements.

The monthly measurements aren't set. I used to do just bust/waist/hips, but what you choose it up to you. We just say pictures and stats - whatever you use. I think the concept of stats came out of some people looking to lose weight, but others trying to build muscle. Each would have their own indicators.
Oh, bust/waist/hips is actually doable! Maybe I'll join then, depending on whether or not I get around to making a plan and doing pics and measurements tomorrow - will be away for a week starting Sunday.

Yes, I take photos every two to three weeks (depends on where I'm at in my cycle--if I'm bloated I don't bother) and measurements every week. Measurements are included in my log.

I've found that ribcage and stomach were very informative measurements; my waist only went down 2" but my stomach went down 5" which has kept me sane. And I knew my blouses get looser, but not my pants, because my waist doesn't go down but my ribcage does, but the measurements were a good reality boost.
I use the measurements I need for sewing, hence the high bust, bust, under bust, and waist (which I consider belly button) and hips. It's a great way to keep me on top of my measurements.
First pictures and stats have to be posted by September 8th, midnight (using the boards time). Even if you're on a break, don't worry about it. It will give you a good headstart to the four months.
