Default Bioidentical Hormones

I apologise in advance if this is the incorrect place to post this, but I am wondering does anyone here take bioidentical hormones? I am interested in hearing from those of you who can compare them to synthetic hormones, as well as pros/cons of each side. The cost is very high where I am, about $1000 for the first visit, as they will not use previous labs, even though they are only a week old. The place I was looking into was bodylogic. Thanks

Pros-That make people feel less afraid because they are "tailored" and more natural.
Cons-Don't work as well or at all and have side effects that aren't as researched because it is sketchy stuff to legit researchers.

In short, you can either mess with something that is expensive and may not work that we know less about the bad effects or you could go with something that has more of a track background of working, regardless of the rare cases and anecdotal stories that scare you.

Here is a final tip, when a company that is supposed to be at high levels of serious and dangerous hormonal research puts Dr. Phil and Susan Summers Ageless on their front page for their website, run.

thanks for the input, I appreciate it. My friend goes to a bodylogic dr and though she is not technically diagnosed with hypothyroidism, he treats her with armour and various other hormones. She is feeling much, much better though so who knows? I do agree with your last statement, which is why I am hesitant. My endocrinologist told me to research my options and get back to her with what I think, so that is what I am doing.

Armour is pretty mainstream.

Just curious: if you are working with an endo now, why are you looking elsewhere for options? And why is your endo encouraging you to look for someone other than her? That strikes me as a little odd.

I told her I was not certain I wanted to take synthetic hormones and was interested in bioidentical hormones, which she does not use. She said for me to really research bioidentical before I use it.

I think you have the doctor we should all have. She is encouraging you to seek information that she does not have. Good for her. Too many doctors use a very limited approach to medicine and their patients may never know about alternatives that may be as effective as conventional medicine.
Though, as a disclaimer, I am not saying anything about the question at hand. I am just admiring the doctors approach.

Don't quote me on this but I believe Julie Keen (UConnJulie) takes bioidentical hormones. I don't know how often she checks the forums though. I believe she had a whole bunch of stuff in there in her old log. I don't remember what it was called though to post a link.
