Default Minimum amount of carbs needed?

When I'm dieting I feel less hungry on lower carbs but I get to lethargic. Is there a good place to start with the amount of carbs and adjust from there or am I going to need to just play around with it?

I would say everyone is different. I go as low as 20-30g a day when I am cycling and I feel great. No effect on my energy or my workouts. In fact, I have more energy when I am cycling, even on my really low carb days.

It varies for everyone, and for your activity levels... Jane does great on low-carb. You might want to try what I do and eat a bit more carbs on workout days to fuel yourself. I get exhausted if I go below 80g/day, and on workout days (lifting) I eat around 115g usually... These numbers are for me though - you might want more or less! Honestly, that's why there are so many different diets - everyone has something different that works for them...

Thanks ladies. I think I'll start at 100g and work from there.

For me, anything under 100 grams and I am tanked. I also find that I don't lose weight very well when I go under about 100 grams.

I do well if I am cycling carbs. Alternating lower intake (60-70g) with higher carbs (150-200g), making sure the higher number is on higher intensity training days. But I read somwhere that if you want to do low carb, start around 100g first and work your way down

Very good article - should be required reading before anyone discusses or asks questions about their macro requirements.
