Default question on weighing meats

This question may have been asked before, and I am totally confused.

When the pacakaging says 4oz of meat, does that mean its raw or cooked? So if a 4oz piece of meat is 110 cals, 25g protein and 1g fat, is this raw or cooked? I am confused!!

raw.

It's usually safest to weigh things raw in general, as cooking changes the water content, therefore the weight; but not the nutrient content, therefore the calories. And it usually varies in how much.

I like weighing raw also - but it can be hard for me to keep track of if cooking many at a time. In that case, I weigh cooked.

If you have to weigh it out cooked (like leftovers) - be sure to lookup values for cooked meat and not use the raw values.
