Hi Leigh is there any products/natural remedies that can tighten up loose skin. I am 24 yrs old. I lost 100 lbs and am now about 10%BF and have a little loose skin in the abdominal area. It sags a little bit and on the upper part of the abdominal area i can grab it unlike my friends which i can't really grab at all. It has shrunken up over the last few months. I have almost been fit for about a year. I lost the 100 lbs from May to Oct (about six months). I now train hard and have put on muscle in the process. My lean body mass in increasing every month. If you look at my abdomin from the side you can see the cuts in the skin. My friend says you would have the six pack if it wasn't for the skin. Is there anything i can do for this. I've heard to wait 1 to two years but is there anything that can help speed up the process? You might say add more lean mass but do you know of anything else?
One of Leigh's later podcasts has a portion on loose skin. Way down near the bottom... I don't remember if it's in 12 or 13, but both are good to listen to, anyway.
One thing to note is whether it's actually loose skin or whether there's a layer of fat still under the surface of that skin. Personally, people would say I have loose skin, but with me, it's not. It's a thin (or thick, actually) layer of fat under the skin, making the skin appear to hang looser than I'd like. Either way, no abs for me. I have to get leaner.
You're 24. Your skin has loads of elasticity still in it. GIve it a solid 6-12 months to assess how much laxity there actually is; make sure you use a good moisturizer like thick eucerin or lubiderm to keep the skin more pliable and hydrated. Sometimes with large amts of wt loss, you just overstretched the skin's ability to expand; people who have this occur will generally need some sort of "tummy tuck" or what have you. It's a majorly no fun procedure, so definitely give tincture of time a chance first.
You know just the other day I hit the 275 mark with a client. I can't imagine there will be many more of those in my life, but it was awesome to say the least.
As for skin, I have found thus far the factors that affect it most are...
-Age (Younger the better)
-Genetics (Whiter the worse)
-Severity of overweight (heavier the worse)
-Length of time you carried the weight (longer the worse)
So for example, a 55 year old, white Irish female who lost 112 pounds that she carried for 20 years is going to likely look worse than a 28 year old, latino, who lost 50 pounds and carried it for 4 years.
Honestly I can usually tell by looking at you in person or a picture if you might require surgery. Most do not, but some just do.
So if you want to post a pic more than welcome. Otherwise try and look at the factors and see where you fit.

Oh now this just sucks...what if you're 50% Irish, 25% Italian and 25% Spanish?

Ha maybe that Italian and Spanish will make up for it. If your face skin is anything like your body though, you might not have much to worry about as it is very pretty and seeming to have nice elasticity to it.

Awesome...there is hope!!! And *blush* I already said I'd buy you a beer at the summit, now I'll have to buy more.
Good. She's been complaining she'll be fat at the summit. Let her know you're more than willing to make her fatter. *evil grin*
My issue was still more fat under the skin, since that's the last part of the subcutaneous fat that you lose, as it's farther from the furnace of your body, and the parts that are the fattest when you're fat are likely gonna be the "loosest" when you're done (not to mention take the longest to lose from).
Lotion, hydration, losing more fat, buffing up the muscle, time, and a good diet (diet as in the food you eat, not "diet" as in "I'm on a diet") take care of most of the problem. Unless you were big for a good long while, there's decent hope that it will go away.
However, I'm willing to bet the majority of the problem is fat. If you pinch it, is it thinker than a few mms? If so, it's likely fat. Then how to lose that is a matter of where you are and how hard it has been to lose. For me it was gain a bit of fat all over to help even out, then lose again.
This was all before starting school and getting spread-ass-syndrome, however, so I never finished the process. But I was about 35/26 at the time and it was working fairly well.
Leigh; i'm 50% italian and 50% norweigan but i am not dark. I take after my mom who is norweigan. I'll post a picture of myself in the next few weeks. I was overweight for most of my life though my senior year of high school i lost 50 lbs but put it all back on and then some at college though this year my senior year i have never been as fit or looked as good. I've put quite a bit of muscle everywhere. i feel as if i do need surgery but i hope not. I do drink alot of water to everyday. 32oz*4 of water almost everyday

Wow! I've been reading about this as I'm starting to notice a lot of "loose skin." I believed, even though I didn't understand, when people tried to explain that it was still a function of fatloss. That was the best explanation I've seen. I don't know why but your choice of words just seemed to make the most sense. I think I get it now!
