This is the beginning of my second week on the opt remix. I swear, my weight itself is lower, but my body seems MUCH flabbier. I can actually grab skin on the sides now and on my abs. I couldnt before. This worries me. I have been following the menu perfectly except for one small cheat one day which didnt go over the cals. Even the workouts, I have been following which leave me feeling almost nothing... (previously my workouts were much much harders)
Has anyone else had this?
I just want to make sure Im not doing anything wrong or this isnt backfiring when I should be doing something else or someone else hasnt experienced this themselves. Thank you.
I’m not sure what type of program you were previously following but Leigh’s Remix program doesn’t look that easy to me. It is full of high quality movements that utilize the entire body. Maybe Leigh’s program is just different than what you are used to? If you are accustomed to doing circuits with little to no rest between exercises than I can see why you many think OPT remix is “easier”. OPT remix is a different type of training with resting in-between exercises for recovery. This type of training has a very different feel than circuit style and may be misleading if you are new to it. You're still working very hard but in a different way.
Also—make sure you are paying attention to all the little details during the lifts. Are you breathing correctly, keeping good posture, engaging your core, really visualizing and feeling the correct muscles working? Give it INTENSITY and mental sharpness.
It’s amazing how much these small details will affect the workout and how much more challenging they will become once the form is spot on.
I doubt the program will bring on flab. I’m sure it’s just a little bit of water weight or some other fluctuation going on. I personally can feel pretty lean one day and not so much the next. Good ol’ hormones. ;0) I say, have total faith in the program and just give it your all. Sounds like you’re a hard worker.
I have experienced this during weight loss. Your fat gets very squishy and soft before it disappears. I'm sure there is some scientific explanation for it.
Patience. Control what you can (diets and workouts) and chill on what you can't. If you are really doing the work it will pay off, but you have to give it a chance!
THis is what a moderator on another forum responded to me when I mentioned this same phenomenon when I lose weight:
"Not to worry. Looking flabby is natural and par for the course for the interim. When we are at our fattest we are firmer than when we lose some fat. The skin hasn't had time to firm up again for one of a few factors.
If you kept your strength at what ever level it was, then you didn't lose muscle."

This is pretty much dead on. As an additive for visual (and I swear I write about this in the book) you are melting pockets of harden fat in the body. It leaves holes. This is why your stomach will go from firm to looking like cottage cheese squshy mush.
You always look worse when you are losing fat. You face looks worse, skin is looser, your hair thins sometimes. Basically it isn't a sexy time. However, the 3 months after it is done, look out, you look better than ever.

Ok, can't wait for the crap to end and the looking better to get here.
Yes a bodybuilder friend of mine said to look out for that. My face is looking thinner which makes me look older. He said a friend of his had that happen and then with some good weight lifting and muscle, it fixed itself. I hope this is the case?
Well, Im weighing less, but mushy all over so congrats to me!!
