I still like it. Works as well as the Bugg for me, but so much smaller / easier to wear. My only dislike is that I didn't buy the wireless uploader / transmitter thingy (I think it was an extra $100??? gotta check the website) - it's a pain to take it off to upload when wearing long sleeves, but that's REALLY minor in the big picture of things.
If you think you'd use it, I'd recommend it - anyone else want to weigh in???
I don't have the wrist thing - I had one with the Bugg and returned it cuz I never felt like it synced well, but some people love 'em... I still use Daily Plate (but I enter each ingredient in my log - do NOT use it for recipes!)
We got our first shipment of the new Bugg last Friday. They have not been released to sell yet (maybe this week?), but I'm told they will sell for $249 and will include the digital display watch (which I have never tried). So, yours is still a better price. I won't be able to try it since I am pretty much obligated to wear the Bugg, if anything, because it is a sales tool for me plus I don't have to pay for the subscription, so it only makes sense. But anyway, I thought I would share if anyone was wondering about the price of the new Bugg. That is the price it will sell for at 24 Hour and I don't know if that is just introductory or the regular retail price.

Still lovin' it. Noticing a decrease in my overall caloric burn though; only around 2200/day so better get my ass back in gear. Fortunately, my diet break is over now.
I didn't get the wirless portion and don't care; I charge it while I get in the shower and download it at the same time. I love the fact that there are NO batteries to change (a huge shortcoming of the bugg, imo).
Wendy, I didn't realize you got one as well. Cooooool.
I agree the recharge feature puts the Bugg to shame. What a PITA changing those batteries every few weeks and making sure I always have batteries on hand. As for the wireless, I quit using mine for my Bugg because it just goes faster when I plug it in directly and half the time I'd lose the signal and half to start over before the data would upload. Dang, I wish I could justify getting the Gowear Fit.
maybe this is a stupid question but what are the advantages of the bugg/go fit over wearing a good polar (with ownindex to put in one's data etc) to measure daily caloric burn?

I don't have a Polar, and would probably suggest going to the Bugg homepage to read their info about it (I think it's bodybugg.com or apexfitness.com). Although the bugg (or gowear fit) doesn't measure HR, it measures heat dispersion, sweat, and has a 3-way accelerometer (bugg has 2-way but I think the new one will have a 3-way?). In studies it's over 90% accurate compared to metabolic testing... I think it's more accurate than a HR monitor BUT I haven't compared them - Leigh probably has .
If you have a good Polar and it works for you, that's probably fine! I still use a HR monitor every once in a while just for fun... Anne (RealCdn) uses a HR monitor - she might chime in here...
What I like about the Bugg-type products are the cal/minute you can see in charts/graphs all day, along with steps taken (more accurate than a basic pedometer) and also it tells you how well you're sleeping... For me - that graph is SO motivating. I hate seeing a flatline day .
thanks that does help me understand it better I guess you can see when you get lazy or what your NEAT is..etc with the graphs. I will check out the webpages. I just hope the gowear is available soon in Europe. I will checkout the websites.
I was wondering as well if any of you still wear a heart rate monitor, while you are wearing the Bugg, or go fit. I wear a heart rate monitor every time I work out, but mainly to see what percentage I am working at. So I can wear both at the same time?
I always wear my IPOD in an armband on my left arm, I guess I will have to get used to wearing it on my right. I wonder how silly I am going to look with "things" on both my arms?
Any one else wear an IPOD in an armband, and also one of these monitors?
Well, I'm a bit bummed... I did email GoWear Fit customer support to find out if I could use it with an older computer running Windows XP SP1 and they said no, because their installer will look for SP2 and if it doesn't find it, won't install.
So I guess they lost a sale there, because I'm not risking messing up my machine, the manufacturer said I should flash the BIOS on the motherboard before trying to install SP2... not a good idea with the frequent power failures around here.
BTW, they also mentioned that the GoWear Fit might have issues with Firefox 3... though is fine with Firefox 2.
hey tina, yep. bought it. probably won't be unwrapping it until saturday after my 5k, although it would be cool to know what I burn during a tough effort.

well its a while since i did a 24 hour test with my Polar F11 but i did it yesterday
It came out to 2015 which if my metabolism were not messed up, is exactly what I would predict
I was using roughly 90 cals per hour during the day (desk job but walk around to other floors and buildings regularly)
60 cals per hour during the night
and used 222 for 30 mins cardio at 65% Max HR which is pretty spot on

Well, you burn more than I do! I burn around 60/hr at my desk . I can burn a little more when I get up and move around (I try, but sometimes get caught up at work) - but without a concentrated effort, I burn 1750-1800 on a typical work day. OTOH, I hit 2300 after a good workout and running errands all day... Maybe losing my job won't be such a bad thing, if I end up being MORE active
Okay I am really interested in this. I have a potentially stupid question though....do you need to have the online activity manager for it to work? If you buy just the arm band, is there software to download to find out how many calories you burned without paying for the subscription each month?
Based on my quick glance at the site, I don't think I would need or use the activity manager.
You have to have the subscription to download the info, or else it fills up and stops working. Sucks. BUT the 1-year committment is only $6.95 (I think?) per month so really it's not that bad...
You can buy the digital display (for $99) but even that only works until the armband memory is full (I think 2 weeks???). The activity manager is what generates all those cool graphs and stuff that I posted earlier in this thread...
I have a question for you guys...I always thought that using a heart rate monitor for non-exercise activity wasn't accurate in terms of calories burned. That even weight training can give false high calories. Anyone want to weigh in on this? I have the F11 but I've only used it for cardio and then primarily for gauging intensity. And even then I considered the burn to be a little high so took with a grain of salt.

I have the F11, too. I have also heard the same thing about innaccuracy, however, I wear my HRM from the time I wake up until I take my shower at night and the caloric burn is very close to the numbers I got when I went and had my MRM testing done. I don't live and die by the number, but it definitely counts the calories and seems pretty accurate.
But, I am still kind of eyeballing this new gadget.

Haven't gotten one of these yet, but knowing that we are both about exactly the same size (height and weight!), it give me an extra bit of confidence that I've got my burn caculated correctly. I've estimated about 1800.
I've worn the HR monitor a few times for extended periods (a Polar F11). I've come to the conclusion that it's fairly accurate for me. Having said that, I've never adjusted my food up based on the readings I get. Although eventually I'd consider dropping my calories based on it.
I am very impressed with this gadget. I am certain that it is going to help me achieve my goals this year. I was particularly impressed with the calorie burn during my 5k effort. I always suspected that I burned more during intense effort than those stupid estimators say I do, and now I have confirmation. and it amazes me how much easy walking burns!!! and how little you burn while sitting on your ass! wow, I live in such a pretty place. I see more easy walks in my future on top of my training.

That is exactly what surprised the heck out of me with the Bugg ... how much more a leisurely walk burned, versus intense intervals followed by ass-sitting on the sofa recovering!!!

Word. And people wonder why my "too easy" fat loss programs drop the fat like crazy. Maybe because I don't burn people out and make them sleep and have hormonal crashes all day.
Alright, I am getting one of these for Christmas from the Hub. I have my F11 - but I am a graphs geek and I am very curious on the accuracy of my Polar. The cool thing is that I can start with the arm band and still use my Polar as my watch/HRM - with no screw ups.
Yay!

cynthia - i'm using firefox 3 without any problems. my two cents on your sp2 issue would be to attempt the upgrade w/o flashing the bios and see where it gets you. i've got sp3 running on my hubby's 10+ year old dell pentium three with no issues whatsoever and he's only got 256k ram.

i totally agree - my only workouts lately have been long leisurely walks with the hubster a few times a week. i let my gym membership lapse since i'll be starting at the university next month and will be paying for the rec center there. i'll be starting back with the weights then.
i am loving my monitor. i also upload and charge when i hit the shower. i'm finding it very comfortable and the data is really motivating - am i getting enough sleep? enough steps? etc.
i did email customer service to tell that that they need to improve the uploading process - the computer should be able to autodetect the monitor and upload the data automatically - i don't need to be reminded how to remove the monitor from the armband every time and i shouldn't have to hit enter four times. i also suggested that they create a forum for members. i'd really like to see them implement a system like sportbrain where members can join teams for cooperative or competitive stepping. when i was a member of sportbrain (when it originally came out) i was a member of a couple teams. one was really competitive and we had weekly step quotas plus a quirky requirement each week like walk 20,000 steps in a day. there were other teams that were trying to "walk around the world". everyone on the team could see how many steps you had which was really motivating.
righto karen. I agree with the online community. that would be fun.
I absolutely love the gadget, and I am forever a koolaid drinking leigh groupie. I would have never had the courage to go for a bigger calorie deficit and chuck the running had I not read leigh's ebooks and had guidance from two other koolaid drinking leigh groupies on this forum. now I am back to running, and faster than ever in a leaner body.
