Shari, after I've had procedures like that (laproscopy, c-sections), moving around (gently) as much as possible seems to help with that bloating thing. Try to make sure you keep your water up today, too. that should help.

Hey Shari,
Hang in there! Why not just skip the weigh in? Like you already mentioned, you know it's not true weight, so why torture yourself?
No need to make yourself feel all guilty, especially when you are recovering from surgery.

Great suggestions with the water, that will defiantly help the bloat. If your having a hard time getting it down try adding some slices of cucumber(peeled if not organic). Nice and refreshing! A slice or two of an orange really works well too.

I'm just conjecturing here, because as we sit here I'm up 5 pounds. It's rough for me to lose...

Good for you for counting up your cheat day, instead of going unconscious.

Certainly possible. This is partly the experiment... and once I go off the challenge, I'm going to give Cheat To Lose the full chance, rather than the partial chance it's getting now. Part of that program is to manipulate leptin levels and you are actually meant to increase calories/carbs through the week. Obviously, with a set deficit for the challenge, that can't happen.

However, a refeed day is also going to cut into a deficit too... so there's that. And I suppose it all depends on just what one eats there.

There may be hope for the wretched, unless I'm just delusional from brain fog. But I swear, this morning I tugged on my swimsuit. And then I stopped after and realized it didn't seem to be a struggle!

It's the same identical suit style and size I last bought, but this one has a really, really tight elastic for the "shelf bra" part. So much so that the first time I wore it, I could barely breathe. Well, the rest of the suit fits fine, but getting that blasted elastic over my hips is usually a tug o' war. Either the tug o' war happened and I was oblivious, or perhaps my losses this week are not pounds.

Here's hoping for a happy measure day tomorrow for us all!

Cynthia

Shari, it's just the one check-in and no one is going to think you have backslid just because your pictures/weight don't show it this week. Stay in the challenge and with luck, you'll still see good things happen.

I'm with everyone else on the water, raise that glass!

Yes you can!!! That is a great attitude. It always feels good to follow through with something you started. It would be so easy for you to quit right now but clearly you are totally motivated. Keep up the good work!!!

I'm on day 20! 10 more to go!!!!

Just needed to post quick... I'M NOT DELUSIONAL!

I DIDN'T IMAGINE THE SWIMSUIT BEING EASIER TO PULL ON!

I just did my measures and they are DOWN! Scale not budging. But I don't care! One of these days I *am* going to make it into a size 1X swimsuit again!

You might get an unexpected WHOOSH by the end!

At any rate, keep the faith, drink the water, keep the deficit. And remember, even though the official challenge will end, the real challenge is still there waiting for us all!

Shari, hope you're feeling better today. Most everyone else seems to be doing well and keeping up with the challenge, too.

Here's a recipe that I made today that turned out pretty well. I'm like Shari and really wanting chocolate, but had to settle for something that tastes almost like comfort food. This is a modification of Chicken Cordon Bleu. I'm going to put in what I used and others will probably have to increase as needed for their own calories.

Chicken Breast -- 15.2 oz
Chicken Broth, canned, low sodium -- 0.25 cup
Mozzeralla cheese, part skim -- 40 g
Canadian Bacon -- 2 oz (4 slices)
Parmesan Cheese, dry, grated -- 10 g
Bread crumbs, dry, grated, with Italian Seasoning -- 30 g
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray -- 2 g

Put chicken broth in a bowl that you can use to wet the chicken breasts for dredging. Combine the bread crumbs and parmesan in another bowl to dredge.

Pound each chicken breast to 1/4 inch thickness with a meat mallet. Top each breast with one slice of Canadian Bacon, and some of the cheese. Roll up each breast and dip into the chicken broth and then dredge in the bread crumb mixture. Place your rolled chicken breasts, seam side down, in a small pan (I used a glass loaf pan) that you've sprayed with the cooking spray/I Can't Believe It's Not Butter spray. Pour remaining broth in the pan with the chicken. You can put the bread crumbs and the rest of the cheese on top of the chicken, too.

Bake at 350 for about 30 minutes or until the chicken juices run clear and the tops are browned.

Calories=754
Protein=120.4
Fat=19
Carbs=24.2

There's virtually no fiber in this, but the calories are fairly low, so I added sweet potato, broccoli, cucumber, and an orange to my food for the day to round out the rest of the meal.

OK, here's my Saturday check-in report for 11-8-2008!

I can't see any difference in the pictures, but I sure did see some in the measurements. More than I expected! Scale is down a little from last week, but is essentially the same weight I was after the first week.

I'll happily take the inches lost though! That's good progress for me!

Congrats on the loss Cynthia. Take a look at this attachment. Hope you don’t mind but I put your starting pictures and yesterdays progress pictures side by side. Look at the difference (in less than 30 days!). You have noticeably lost in your waist and back.

Shari-- 2 pounds is actually not bad considering the circumstances! Hope your feeling better.

Debbie- what can I say? I wish I looked like you.

Etana, Joyce, and everyone else , you are doing great! I’m really enjoying reading the updates. One week to go, right?! You’re in the home stretch....

Etana

I guess I don't trust the side shots especially. The first week, I wasn't used to the camera/remote thing, so I DIDN'T reflexively gut suck and it all hung out. By the second week, when the red warning light came on the camera (how I know the remote fired it properly), I could feel myself tensing and doing a gut suck even though I didn't mean to. Same this past week. The remote gives ya TWO seconds, so if I suck, there's not time to relax again before the camera fires. I have never liked having my picture taken, even when I am the one doing it!

I was comparing 2nd set of pictures to current to eliminate the gut suck factor and that's where I just couldn't see much difference.

If something shows in my back, then I am glad.

Meanwhile, the scale was nice this morning and gave me a 220.4! And the Omron body fat monitor said 39.0 even!

Energy level down again. I had it yesterday, went ballistic and then slept another 10 hours last night. Complete with my first ever food dream, LOL!

In spite of the tough times, I'm so glad I'm doing this. While I probably won't go this low calorie all the time, with the new weighing I can monitor things better.

The differences are subtle, but they are there I think. Around the waist for sure! I think I am seeing more definition in your back, but it's hard to tell with the lighting.

Keep up the good work!

You HAVE to try these! It's like eating chocolate cake. :-)

Instead of Oats I used Trader Joes high fiber cereal. 3 servings (2/3 cup) of it.
2 small bananas
BANANA 176 g
Unsweetened pure cocoa - 2 tbsp
Chocolate Protein Powder - 3 scoops
EGG WHITES - 3
NONFAT MILK - 2 OZ
WALNUTS - 20g

I just mixed it all up, put it in a baking pan, heated the oven to 350, and baked for like 20 minutes.

This is only about 1000 calories and not enough protein because I'm eating out tonight. But obviously you can play with the ingredients.

Enjoy!!

Yeah I bet my pan was about 8x8. You can use whatever you want. You could do it in a loaf pan if you want them thicker. Or even into muffins if you want them already in individual portions.

And yes, I used a spray in the pan.

Hello everybody,

Just a quick note I'm pecking one handed here, I cut my finger tonight and now have 7 stitches and severed a tendon. I can think of better ways to get out of cooking for few days. Anyway haven't figured out yet what we'll be doing about food the next few dAYS. I'll continue to browse when I can and check on everybody's progress but may not post much. This is taking a bloody long time!!!!!

Good luck everybody. Finish strong.

Oh my gosh!! That sounds so painful! Do you have someone that could help you cook? How frustrating that happened in the last week! Hang in there.

It's quiet on the boards right now. Does anyone else just REALLY want to eat?? I had a hard time today. The thing is I haven't really felt like I was depriving myself, I haven't been all that hungry. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I'm going to try and get out of the house more. Lots of laundry and cleaning today.

Hope everyone is having a great LAST week!!
