I started OPT after I recovered from my surgery and am on my 3rd week. I am really not seeing much change in my body and my weight has even went up 1lb. I got weighed at 162 before my surgery (before I started OPT) and today for my post-op I was 163. I'm eating 1193 and following the workouts. I started OPT before I found out I was having surgery and saw some decent results for 3 weeks. I'm definitely not seeing the same thing. I don't know what to do. I emailed Leigh a few days ago through her blog but haven't received a reply so I figured I'd post here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What sort of surgery and what type of recovery was there?
1 lb up in one week can be from many things. Water, swelling, etc. Less moving around can result in fewer calories burned, for example.
It's 1lb up in 3 weeks (I finish week 3 on Sunday). The surgery was minor. It was an outpatient laporoscopy & hysteroscopy (female stuff). I was about 90% recovered in 3 days from it.
How much NEAT are you getting? Is there any way you could raise the activity level a bit more? You're not getting many calories. What's your multiplier?

Your body keeps an accurate journal regardless of what you write down...
The time of day you eat has no effect on fat loss. Remember bottom line is about calorie balance. Are you weighing/measuring/tracking everything? Personally I did not do well with OPT at all. The calories are too low for me and even though the workouts are not super intense, it was enough to leave me feeling wiped out, tired, hungry, etc which led to eating more. Even if sometimes it was just an extra bit of this a bite of that. It adds up.
I have found in this uberdeficit that my macros need to be more toward the protein end of things for me to feel ok with it. that, and every week or so, I put a higher calorie, higher carb day in.

I also wouldn't be so quick to assume you're fully recovered from the surgery. Small incisions are still incisions through muscle and other tissues. Laparoscopic procedures can shorten the time you need to restrict activities and how quickly you feel better meaning that you can resume normal activities with a low risk of tearing things open. You may feel fine but that doesn't necessarily mean you are 100% recovered and back to your preop state at 3 weeks out.
I'd give it a little more time. Also still a 1 lb difference over 3 weeks could still be just water retention.

Everything is weighed with my nutritional scale. No extra cals in my mouth. My husband said that I need to stop eating my salmon & spinach late at night but I told him as long as I'm getting my calories, it doesn't matter.

Also, does time of day matter when eating?
If you know that your calories are right and you are moving a pretty good amount, then you might needs to just wait it out a little bit. Also if you are eating later, that doesn't mean that you can't lose fat, but it may change your weight in trend. Food and water has actual weight. To be honest 3 weeks just isn't enough time to tell things. Keep trending and see what happens, I would freak out yet.
Ok, I listened to Leigh's advice on her podcast about just starting over (stubborn me). So I started over on Monday and re-calculated my cals according to my current weight, etc. on Sunday.
I can say that it's only Wednesday and I'm already feeling great. I had to up my calories because I was eating way too low for my current weight (1193) and I think that was the missing link. So here I am, the middle of Week 1 at 1563 kcals, and feeling absolutely fantastic.
Oh and the best part is.....I can flex my butt muscles

Ha!
Good luck. I know personally, 1200 vs 1500 makes a HUGE difference in how I feel and how successfully I can adhere to a plan. Keep us posted!
