I’m hoping this won’t come off as a whining piece, but I’d like some opinions, or a kick in the ass.fficeffice" />
I haven’t been doing Leigh’s program per say, but I did use her formulas to calculate caloric needs and reduced to incur a 35% deficit.
I’ve been doing this for about 4 weeks now. I have not been working out with weights nor doing any cardio.
I’ve been trying to stay aware of NEAT and was hoping to increase it. This is what I’ve noticed. I am wiped out….my NEAT level is dwindling down to the point where I’m vegging out on the couch more nights than not. This is not normal for me. I’m tired, not as in lack of sleep because I’m sleeping more than normal, but a lethargic (lazy) tired.
Having said this I’ve lost some weight…I figure without counting the dips and peaks, maybe 3 to 5lbs, but I am at a lower bw than I’ve ever been before.
I’m just wondering if I should keep at the low cals for awhile longer, feeling like this, or up my cals a bit, and try to add in some exercise. I don’t really like feeling this way, low energy level, worried about lean muscle loss, but am willing to bit the bullet for a few more weeks if it bring the weight down some more.
I’ve also had some ‘’binge’’ days specially weekends, where because I’m vegging out more…I’m bored and find myself munching a lot. This too is not my style. I remember Leigh saying your body will want to find the feed. I’m starting to seriously get the meaning of this phrase. So honestly, even though I’ve calculated a 35% deficit, I’m pretty sure it’s not actually that much, hence more confusion on my part of why I’m so tired.
Any thoughts….
Oh yeah...caloric intake according to formulas is 1300 cals/day

Have you been hitting the macros as listed then? I ask because the reason the program is so specific and can get away with being so aggressive is because of the protein/fat requirements. If not following those then you aren't going to feel as good.

You have to do SOME training on this program, hince why I put it. See training is good, when done right. Training can increase your daily energy and output, if don't right.
Again not following the program means not getting all the benefits of it.

Congrats on that!

I doubt at this point you have had any muscle loss but if I were you I would recommend jumping into doing the program the way it is laid out so you can get the benefit of some training.

Yeah, I mean this isn't anything crazy or out there. You are cutting, you are tired, you are trying to feed, pretty much standard. The thing is the best that you can do is cover all bases. If you find you are start to stall and slow down, then now it is time to be strict with the program.
Basically you going at it your way lost 3/5 lbs. That is awesome!
Now, hit at it the book way and see where that gets you and see if you don't feel better. That is if still looking to lose a little and keep going.
Regardless congratulations on hitting the low weight.

Thanks for your opinion. Makes sense to me. I’m doing the best I can with the macros, although proteins are more in the range of 30 – 35% instead of 40%. Let’s see if I can make it better.
I know about the training…I’m sure part of my lethargy is the lack of it. I’ll boot my own ass on this one and get to it.
I’ve had major stress and aggressive workload at office these days…I’m sure this also plays a roll also in my lack of energy.
Anyway, gotcha on all counts. Thanks for the reassurance on muscle mass. Will keep you posted.

Do you paste your posts in from some other application (like MS Word, etc.)?
If you click on the button before you paste, it will paste in as text only and you won't get the smileys. Or, type in notepad or something that doesn't have formatting associated with it.

Also make sure that sleep is on point, don't skimp there either
