Lightbulb Difference in forums sections

I read a lot more than I post. I can't help but notice a big difference in sections. I think the forum could benefit from being less broken up. A lot of the NROLW girls don't have half the knowledge because they aren't aware of a lot of the posts in this section. Silly because most of them are trying to lose weight. Why all the spliting up?

I also propose that there is more of a drive for people to get FLTS in other sections or at least point here. Leigh answers 1001 questions and sometimes those answers get passed around with little to no credit to her work. I think that is shafting the effort Leigh puts forth.

I would like to open it for discussion because this is a great free resource and I would hate to see it leave like it seems others did in the past for lack of gratitude.

To Leigh: Is there a reason you couldn't go into other sections more? I know you are short on time but I really think it would help more. I would like to hear your thoughts.

I actually prefer having the separate sections. There's a lot of traffic on this site and if there's too many threads in one section they'll get dropped off the first page too quickly and might be missed alltogether. When times short I'll just scan the first page of the forums that primarily interest me. Having a hodgepodge of topics posted in one forum would be one thing that would actually drive me away from this site.

I've usually seen specific questions redirected if a member thinks another forum would be more helpful. Also there's frequently links to older posts answering questions. There will always be some degree of crossposting and blending of topics among the forums. Also it wouldn't surprise me if many of the NROLW girls are at least checking out the FLTS forum if their goal is weight/fat loss. It seems logical anyway.

I don't think it's immediately obvious though that this forum also frequently addresses fat loss questions in general and it's not just specific to Leigh's program or packages. That's something you might only pick up on after reading the forum for a little bit. I could see where someone wouldn't even open the forum in the first place if they thought it was too diet specific. So I do see your point.

Yeah, there is a definite need for separate forums. It's hard enough as it is trying to answer all the newbie NROL4W questions in that forum without having to weed through FLTS questions, too. Sure, sometimes they intersect, but you are going to have that.

Also, I don't think there is a "drive" to get people to check out FLTS. There are a lot of different ways to attack fat loss and everyone may have their own preference on how they wish to attack fat loss. And, as Diana pointed out, this forum is for ANY fat loss question about any fat loss plan or method....not just FLTS.

ETA: Anytime I attempt to answer a question about fat loss for someone, I am certainly not "ripping off" Leigh! In fact, I've never used her programs.

Jane-I think they are referring to me leaving like others have in the past. Though I could be wrong about that. That is how I read it anyway.

TDBXOO-While I appreciate the support, I actually think posts like this cause more problems then solutions. At least in the manner it was brought up.

I am sure that people make good effort to support my work, if they so desire to do so. I choose to provide the information I do for free, and do so knowing that could decrease book sales.

I do not get a lot of sales through JP Fitness or even blog visits and contrary to what some believe here, I post purely out of the dedication to the people who supported me in the beginning. I like and am friends with some of them outside of this forum. I could make far more sales and conversions doing other things with the time I spend here answering PM's or forum posts.

Over the course of my whole sub forum I have personally recommended the book twice, maybe three times? I take very special care to note promote my blog (aggressively) or any other things I am doing as to not provide the wrong kind of view as to my work and integrity. I try to keep my answers to helping on the questions themselves, not pimping my books.

I don't know how much longer I will have a subforum here. This forum is also a business to other people, so it isn't in my control. I will post here as long as I have the time or am allowed to due to business agreements. I will say that it is likly with the release of Body By Eats that there will be changes in my subforums presence here.

Even if I no longer have a subforum here, I will still be apart of the community and support the people of JP Fitness and always will. It may just be as a casual poster though in the future instead of specific to question answering.

And as to other sections, I would love to, but I couldn't possibly play catch up. It is more than just getting a questioned answered. It is also nice to have a kind of background on people. I sometimes get to the other sections if I am pointed to something, but that is basically it.

So that won't likely happen.

I never accused you of ripping anyone off, but adding in the last part I think made your stance clear too.

Yes, I was talking about you leaving and not wanting that. I have read through almost every thread you wrote and it has helped me and others I know tremendously.

I am sorry if I caused any problems. I do hope your subforum stays and you do as well.

Not at all....I think Leigh is great! I've read FLTS, and there's a ton of good info in there.

TBDX20001 do not knock MissJane for she likes Santogold and Bowie and that is all you ever need to know about anybody.

To also point to what Diane and MissJane said, this comes from the sticky at the top of this section...
Quote:
Do I have to buy your book to post here?

NO! I am helping contribute when I can to the section, and yes my fat loss guide is supported here, but you don’t have to buy my book to ask a questions in this section. You don’t have to buy any books. This isn’t about me, this is about fat loss.
If you use TNT, UD2.0, NROL, WSFL, FLTS, or WWJD (okay so I added the last one) you can post here. Sadly I don't think that has ever caught on. Mostly this is a female and FLTS dominated section when it was meant to be universal to all fat loss needs regardless of program or experience. It may seem like customer support because for the most part that is who posts in here and that is where I point a lot of people that send me emails, but it is still open to all.

So if you want to refer people to the book or this section, fine not going to argue that. Otherwise though everything is cool and no need to rock the boat with the people who seem to be doing a great job to me. Looks like a "if it isn't broke, don't fix it" situation. Granted I don't read in other places much, but I get PM's left and right about all kinds of crap and the last place I get problems from is the help in the NROL sections.
