Question

I've read and I've read all I can about the diet and it appears to be what I need/want for my cutting phase. But... can someone please post me an example of their day's food intake on the diet? I'm a visual person, I need to see what someone was eating while on it. I can read all day long on what and how to eat, but until I see an example, it's not going to sink into this thick skull.

I just typed a long menu for a day, with details. Then the internet broke and I lost it when I hit "Add Reply." I hate that!

Breakfast
Omelette: combination of eggs, ham, cheese, and veggies (spinach, tomato, salsa, bell peppers, or any leftover veggies from some recent dinner)

Snack
Jerky, nuts, and a bag of cut up veggies

Lunch
Salad: Spinach with chicken breast and some sorta veggies thrown in. Maybe some cheese or egg, too.

Sometimes, lunch is vegetable soup with chicken or some other meat tossed in.

Snack
Can of tuna, some raw veggies or homemade "Three Bean Salad," nuts

Dinner
Whatever my wife makes. This is usually the meal with the optional carbs. She's a healthy cook, just more "carby" than I'd eat alone, but you've gotta cook for the family...

Snack
Cottage cheese and walnuts

There's a lot of nuts in there, but it's really only two serving divvied up.

10-12 fish oil caps per day.

Best case, I have my "carb" meal after a workout. Take advantage of the anabolic window.

Worst case, I'm too rushed to cook the eggs for breakfast and eat oatmeal and protein powder, instead. That limits my dinner, though, so I try to avoid that.

I find hardboiled eggs very filling, and when I'm cutting, I eat 2-3 per day (at least). I make a ton of them on Sunday and have a weeks worth in the fridge.

That sounds alot like what I ate on the SBD... I thought the Adams Diet was much more meal replacement with protein shakes.

Marykaa,

I don't think Adam's Diet recommends protein shakes except around a workout. In one of the threads, I think Adam says that you CAN have protein shakes instead of meals, but only if they satisfy you. That's the key. Eating low carb, high protein, high fat, high fiber to keep you satisfied.

Whatever diet one is one, they should have a post workout drink or meal immediately after a workout. To help your muscles recover and, hopefully, build some muscle mass up.

Yes LOSTDOG.. I went back and checked..

8. Drink (roughly): 15 grams of protein, 45 grams of carbohydrate (high-glycemic like maltodextrin or dextrose) in 12 ounces of water--half 5 to 15 minutes before your workout, and the rest evenly divided every 15-20 minutes of your workout. (This is basically a "Nutrient Timing" principle.)

9. After your workout, drink 20 grams of protein and 20 to 40 grams of carbohydrate. (These numbers are debatable, but I think they'll do the job quite nicely.)

I lost a bit, at first, but nothing to speak of. Once I followed it, but counted calories, too, I was able to go from 17% down to about 14% without losing any pounds.

Is the Adams Diet good for somebody who has a lot of fat to lose (over 100 pounds)? Or is it made more for people who have a small amount of fat they need to cut in a short period of time?
