Hi all. I am curious as to what you all use (if at all) for an energy boost pre-workout? I'm looking for something to give me a little more energy to help me with my workouts, weight training mostly, so that I'm not thinking about how tired I am through the whole work out and end up half assing my way through it. I work out at 6am Mon-Fri for about 1 to 1.5 hour(s). I weight train Mon/Wed/Fri and do cardio Wed/Thurs. I'm looking more for something to help with my weight training then anything but as well help me keep my energy level up during cardio days.
Any other suggestions on weight training or suppliments that would help me would be apprieciated. I want to burn fat while gaining muscle. Well, that's my goal anyways.
Also, I have a bum knee, ACL repair about 9 or 10 years ago. It wasn't the best repair job and I plan on seeing a different doctor to check it out. Anyways, is there anything you all recommend for knee and joints relief so I don't do more damage to my knee durring weight training? (I'm affraid to add more weights to my leg workouts)
Nic

Caffeine is always the cheapest route, maybe w/ some L-Thyrosine thrown in for good luck.
Their are plenty of blends of caffeine etc out their . I would checkout 1fast400.com and read the reviews to find out which ones probably dont suck.
The only one that I have found that does anything is Ergopharm's AMP. It is the only one to actually give me results. It does not really give me a ton of energy but it seems to give me laser focus and drive.

when I'm really tire and either have a WO or to train someone at work that night, the only thing I ever use is a no sugar red bull... nothing fancy, but does the trick.

For energy I'll use Ripped Fuel
(which is basically caffeine but you can get the kind with ephedra if you want to mess w/ that stuff)
For your bum knee I'd buy some Glucosamine-Chondroitin
Studies have shown it can help with cartilage reinforcement.
Hope this helps

Who said they were? And yes carbs pre-wo are a good idea but I thought this was pretty much common knowledge by this point.

i dont think its common knowledge at all... you hear it all the time, ppl are scared of carbs and will shy away from them all day.
carbs are very important pre and post workout IMO and are not times when u shld be scrimping, even if you are cutting...

I drink coffee and lots of water.
I eat P+F preworkout and P+C postworkout. Works for me.

My workouts usually last over 2 hours.
I just found out by experience that I really need carbs before a workout.
I don't want to drink coffee after 3 pm.. but once when I was really "sluggish" and sleepy getting to the gym.. I STRONG 12 min warm-up on the stationary Cycle really woke me up and got me going!
