Hey, it's Halloween and I just chowed down 4 packages of Reese's One Carb PB cups (640 cals over my typical daily) - I've been following Adam's Diet lately and I am not predisposed to eating disorders but what is the best strategy to get back on track? Should I eat light tomorrow morning? Not eat until I am hungry? Try to eat fewer, less calorie dense foods tomorrow to balance my 48 hour average? Thanks )

Don't worry about it.

It takes 3500 to gain a pound. So, doing the math, you would have to do that the whole week to gain weight. I say don't sweat it and eat normally the rest of the week.

Every so often we all need to relax and eat something that we want; it's really the secret to staying on-track for a long period of time. After all, we need to enjoy some of these aspects of life sometime, but the key is moderation. Many people recommend 'cheating' once a week in order to throw a curve ball at your metabolism, not to mention getting any cravings out of your system. It would be stupid to not go out with friends/family sometimes and have a good meal/dessert or whatever floats your boat.

Generally, if I've gone off track one day, the best advice that I've heard (and what I've followed) is to just carry on the next day as if nothing happened; there's no reason to starve yourself and screw up your insulin levels and metabolism further.

Ouch... 4 packages? The primary ingrediant in those is maltitol, which gives me a mean case of Montazuma's Revenge! That's if I just eat ONE package!

Don't fret too much. Yes, the calories are a bit high, but the primary goal of the diet you are on is to maintain stable blood sugar. For that reason alone you NEVER want to skip a meal. The dips are as dangerous as the spikes. You want it low enough to not produce too much insulin, not so low that you bottom out and have cravings. Keep it on an even keel as much as possible.

Once, when going to the movies, I bought a bag of Werther's "sugar free" hard caramels. They were tasty, and as planned, I ate the whole bag over the course of the movie. Bad idea...
While I saved half the calories over the normal candies, like JP, I felt terrible for hours afterward. I slept downstairs that night...

JP, Thanks very much, yeah I definately caved last night and thought the low carb variety would be the lessor of two evils - they use erythritol and inulin (fiber)same as Z-Carb not maltitol (maltitol does crazy things to the GI) so I feel ok, just a little guilty I have been working it off . . .have you or anyone tried Berardi's Gladiator Training regiment?

Write it off as a cheat meal and be done with it. Me, when the halloween thing is over I bring the candy to work and let the masses there eat them.
