I know beef jerky has 5-6 grams of sugar per ounce, but is a little of this wonder food ok on Adam's diet in moderation? It is a lean meat after all but does the sugar content screw this up? Thanks

I was thinking of making some jerky. Do you use a dehydrator? Do you have a recipe that's any good?

In the past I've used a dehydrator. Although I'm going to try the oven the next time I can think to pick up some beef.

Jerky 1
jerky 2

Just as a comparison...store bought jerky is at LEAST 7 bucks a pound...sometimes up to 16 depending on what size\brand. Beef roast is mabey 2.50 a lbs give or take a little...minus spices and whatnot you're still looking at well over a 50% savings.

Wow, three hours in the over with the door open? Something seems wrong with that. Will it give me a $300 electric bill?

doubt it. you're only heating the oven on its lowest setting. I'm sure you've made a turkey @ 350 for 3-4 hours!

keep in mind that a dehydrator would run 24 hours!

My girlfriend just came home from Colorado and brought back 3 lbs of jerky called World Kitchens - best I have ever eaten - not store bought - moist, chewy, not leathery and tough to chew like store-brands - only $10/lb - I have 3 lbs in my kitchen LOL.
