Hello I just joined the group and plan on getting a lot of great advice. A little about my self. I am 42 years young and also a former couch potato. This year I have lost about 35lbs. The first of the year I weighed 288 lbs and now I am around 250 lbs. I have taken up cycling and so far this year I have close to 1,900 miles. I also do so nautilus and free weights about 30 mins 2 or 3 days a week. My problem is I seem stuck on my weight. I know I dont eat correctly always. One thing I was wondering what is great for a quick breakfast. (something light. I usually eat breakfast at work and instead of eating biscuits, gravy and potatoes. I was thinking that maybe a good whey protein drink would be suffecient. I tried drinking slimfast smoothies and I am sick of the taste. Anyway more later thaks for any advice.

wow great to hear of your awesome progress so far.
1900 miles on a bike thats pretty impressive!
well for breakfast i usually just make a bunch of egg whites and like 1 or 2 whole eggs, mix in some veggies (red bell pepper and onions for me) and then i put a slice of cheese on there along with 1/4 cup walnuts on the side and chase it all down with 20 oz of water mixed with some Greens plus.
it really doesnt take too long to make about 15 minutes is all. the thing that takes a while is having the eggs cool down to eating temperature, but instead of waiting for the room to cool them i now just put them infront of my fan and enjoy my breakfast asap.
hope this helps.

For breakfast I often eat a bowl of instant low sugar oatmeal with (with apple chunks in it), a banana, and 6 oz of milk.

A typical b-fast for me is oatmeal ("reconstituted" with 2% milk), mixed after nuking with a big dollop of natty peanutty butter and sliced banana. My kids think it's the grossest thing, but, MMM Mmm mmm, is it ever good. sticks to yer ribs kind o' good

I am usually in a hurry, so I usually mix up a protein shake in the blender...
5-6 ice cubes, 5-6 large frozen strawberries, a cup of oatmeal (nuked with skim milk), 1 scoop of vanilla whey protein, 1 cup O.J., about 1/2 cup skim milk, maybe add a banana in there once in a while.
That makes for a pretty good meal to go in less than 4 minutes.
Papa's eggs sound awesome, if you've got the time.

I have a couple breakfasts I sort of standardly eat, with variations thereof.
One consists of 5 eggs, one yolk, 2 TBS buttermilk, and a rounded 1/4 tsp turmeric (anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, flavor and color) scrambled. Top with 1 cup of your favorite chunky salsa, warmed, and 1 cup of cooked spinach. 10 oz. orange juice w/pulp that has a rounded 1/4 tsp of good organic dried ginger stirred in (another good anti-ox and anti-inflam). Coffee with skim milk and 1/4 tsp organic cinnamon (cinn. reputed to improve insulin response and sensitivity and tastes great in coffee). The variation for this substitutes 1/2 cup homemade, low-fat ranch dressing for the salsa, and an apple instead of the o.j.
The other one is 1 cup 1% cottage cheese mixed with 1 cup lowfat yogurt, 3/4 cup blueberries, 3/4 cup tart cherries, a handful of chopped walnuts and almonds, and a bit of sweetener (not sugar of course) to taste. Coffee same as before. The fruit gets varied with raspberries, blackberries, or strawberries, and the nuts with raw pecans, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds.
And of course, like jruck37 says, blender drinks in their many variations are great when you're in a hurry too.

5 egg whites, 1/2 cup plain oatmeal with a little milk. Endless energy and fullness for me.

If weight loss is your goal, I think you'll have to lower your caloric intake. Avoid the fatty foods-stick with whole foods and grains. Oatmeal and egg whites are great, along with pb and bagels (great calories for cycling).

PB is a "fatty" food
My breakfast: 3 eggs, 1/2 cup of ground beef, 1oz of ninja sharp cheddar cheese (on lifting days).
On nonlifting days, I eat a cup of chick peas with a half cup of ground beef. The beef is pretty seasoned so I just mix it together and pop it in the microwave. Its filling and yummy.
