I found the following article. It's pretty straight forward and I thought anyone who is focusing on their nutritional needs for the first time might take some of this information to heart. Explains why we are always talking about avoiding those dreaded insulin spikes.
Why control insulin spikes?

This is a pretty 'high level' article and there is much more information out there. But it's a good place to start.

Well...the link came out pretty ugly. Not sure why.

Good article, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Steve Courson was the writer. Like our own Johnka Steve is not a nutritionist by trade but he is very knowledgeable. He had to be, with him it was a matter of life or death. In the late 80's early 90's Steve was on the heart transplant list and wasn't expected to live without a new heart. This may of been caused by his steroid use while in the NFL. Steve now speaks out against steroid use and has given numerous speaches at numerous schools on the issue. He also was one of the people that testified before congress about steroid abuse. Steve never had the transplant but if you seen him today you would think he could suit up and play th O-line again, he's in great shape and it was all through proper diet and excercise. His news letter speaks of having cheat meals, for him it's on the weekend. I've witnessed some of these, a whole large Bud Murphy's pizza and beer by the picther!! Here'a a link for a story about Steve, it may serve as some motivation. http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/04312/407987.stm

Wow. I had never heard of Steve before. I just kind of stumbled onto the article. Cool.

That's quite a background he has. No doubt he's knowledgable...or he wouldn't be alive. Learned lots the hard way. Sounds like he's making a real difference. Thanks Steeler
