I suffer from a bit of hypoglycemia and find that fruit really upsets me. Like I'll eat it after a full balanced meal (as part of the meal) and I"m really hungry almost an hour later, more hungry than if I cut out the fruit altogether. I am thining of not consuming any more fruit in my diet at all. Do you think there would be any problems in this? (I am still eating plenty of vegetables). Does anyone else out there not eat any fruit?

I try to limit some fruits, but I do okay with apples, cantalope, honeydew, strawberries, blueberries, and other berries.

Watermelon, mangos, grapes, pineapple, etc. do nothing to satisfy me and, like you, I'm often hungry again in an hour.

I try never to eat fruit by itself. I have it with yogurt or cottage cheese, or before the other foods in my meal or snack. Or, I save it for 30 minutes or so before a workout.

For me, I think it's the sweetness, psychologically making me want to eat more, rather than a true, physical feeling of hunger.

ShannonC- what meals are you having fruit with, what else are you eating with these meals, and what kind of fruit do you eat?

Try having fruit for breakfast and for meals around your workout to see if that helps control you blood-sugar level.

If you suffer from hypoglycemia why would you want to cut fruit out completely? You're going to need to find an alternate sugar substitute and fruit is a darn good one.

I don't understand your logic of cutting out fruit. According to your post it looks like your only problem with it is the fact that you're hungry again an hour later. If you can wait 2 hours after your meal eat another snack. It's actually best to eat something every 2-3 hours. This will keep your metabolism up. Just make sure it's healthy snacks (not junk food).

Do you take oral hyperglycemic tablets to control your hypoglycemia?
