When should i take my protein shake? I know for sure during/ right after a workout, but at what other time is it good to take protein?

before your wo wouldn't hurt. Try 1/2-1 hour before your wo.

What's in the shake? There are great shakes that have tons of protein and some good fat (peanut butter, flax oil, etc.) that are perfect for right before bed. Others have a bunch of carbs, which is for pre, during and post workout. Depending on the amount of fat or carbs, you can have it any time. I usually shoot down a simple whey+water shake as soon as I get up. Then I shower, get ready for work, make my coffee, then eat breakfast.

Basically, according to the ingredients, it can be ANY time!
