Unhappy

I am 16, I weigh about between 115-119 lbs, it varies sometimes depending on the amount of sodium I eat. I am about 5'2". I have a small body frame. I looked up online my ideal weight where I put in my height and body frame and it said 111 lbs. I am about a size 2-4 in stores like american eagle, hollister, gap, and abercrombie. I don't think I really can lose more weight because I eat healthy foods and consume under 2,000 calories. I run and workout about 5 times a week, I also play tennis and soccer on my school teams so I'm pretty active. Is my weight healthy? Are their any other healthy ways I could lose a few more pounds other than reducing calories and excercising more. Do I even need to worry about my size/weight?

You really are at a good size. My GF is about the same size, and has an amazing body.

Plus, you're 16. You have some growing to do still. I bet you'll get a bit taller.

It sounds like you are doing all the right things. How long do you run and workout for? As strange as it sounds, you might want to cut back and allow your body some recovery time.

Hi Kelly

"I looked up online my ideal weight where I put in my height and body frame and it said 111 lbs"

The problem with the "on-line calculators is that they a a GENERAL guideline for everyone. (like BMI)

Even if it takes into account your "bodytype" and height it CERTAINLY does not take into account your body composition. That is ho you body is made up. If you have more muscle from sports you WILL be heavier than a couch potato with the same basic "shape". And that is because muscle is heavier than fat.

Don't go buy weight, go by look. Stand in front of the mirror and you will know the answer to your question.

BUT without having seen you, and having heard that you are very active, I would guess that your wieght is not a problem at all. I am sure that you look good and hope you feel good about yourself.

I would not cut calories if you are eating healthily because at 16 you probably are still growing.

I hope this helps.

Peter
