I just read on the Oxygen forum (first day checking it out and they refer to JP as being very credible) that you shouldnt count veges in your carb count? Is this true? If thats the case Im vastly underestimating my carbs.

Did they say why you don't count them? (I'm not going over there to find out)

Hey, at least the scenery is nice over there!

No, they just said, dont count em. The more I think about it though, maybe I am thinking more about my fruit intake.

Are you ingesting carbs? If you are, which in fruits you surely are, then you should be counting them. The veggies are for sure part of your macro breakdown.

I personally count everything that I eat in my macro content. I don't really see why you wouldn't.

Maybe they are trying to get people to eat more veggies, and are in turn saying don't count them in your calorie count. I could see some obsessive people cutting veggies since it will put them over their caloric intake for the day. Might work, but I would rather know exactly what I'm eating. Just my 2 cents.

Maybe they're talking about how you subtract any fiber grams from the total carb grams (net carbs)?
Just grasping for an answer as to why you wouldnt count them.

Count 'em all! Fruits, veggies, etc. With the numbers that you are going for (somewhere between 1700-1900 cals I think, right?) then a healthy amount of fruits and veggies could account for a good 10% of your daily cals. If you were bulking and getting up near 4000 cals, maybe you could leave out the veggies in the count (though I didn't) but I think you should. Besides, if you're using Fitday, it'll also help you keep track of your fiber.

I just did a quick calculation on Fitday. If during a day you have just 10 baby carrots, 1 cup of spinach and 5 spears of broccoli, then you have 152 cals, 30g carbs and 14g fiber. That's pretty significant! And fruit would be even higher!

Maybe they're talking about for those who ONLY count carbs as a way to lose weight. Some of those people get obsessive, eliminating/cutting back on veggies because of the, albiet low, carb count.

Rockhard, I know, I think that was what I was getting at. At only 1900 cals or so it does add up. Bottom line is I'll keep tracking them.
Thanks all.
