Question

I've been slacking too long. I absolutely hate cardio workouts but it's not like I can get by without them. The problem is, I'm not motivated and don't have the energy to complete the workout. Anyone know of a good supplement that can give me the extra boost for my cardio workouts?

Few comments, I used to the in the same boat, but am now looking to alter my weight training to incorporate more cardio =-]!

-Listen to some music, get pumped up!

-Plan them ahead of time, make it a routine!

- Probably dont go for it right now, but im starting/started caffiene pills 20 min before my cardio right in the morning, there was a pretty decent 3 min drop in my time on a 3.5mile loop around the neighborhood! .. plus, once i take it, i have to go run, or i have all that caffeiene, and mobilized fat that'll just be redeposited if not used!!!

-Get a partner to run with, play some pick up games (basketball, frisbee), thats decent cardio!

Set a goal, to accomplish running a certain distance by a certain date. !

Best of luck man!

motivation is one thing you can not rely on supplements for dude...you gotta find motivation yourself, and if you are having trouble doing so then one way to fix that is by setting a realistic goal. Set a goal, and have a plan to work towards it. Having an actual written and mental plan is half the battle with all of fitness goals. You will be more motivated and determined as you work towards a visible goal, instead of becoming overwhelmed. Doing cardio will get easier as you do it, it will become routine. It's just getting into that habit. And there are tons of ways of doing cardio, find a way that you enjoy. And remember unless you are training to be an endurance athlete, you do not need an extremely high intensity, fat burning is only around 65-75 percent intensity.

The motivation won't be a problem once I get my lazy ass up and start running. Hell, I ran every day while I was in the military and now I just find reasons not to. I just need a quick energy fix to get the ball rolling then there's not stopping.

While everyone is different I don't imagine that n energy fix is going to "get the ball rolling." It might be the mental kick-in-the-pants you need but physically it won't help.

As strange as it may sound I listen to audio books for my cardio workouts. I find that I don't really need to get mentally psyched for cardio like I do for lifting. What I need is something to "take me away" -- mentally that is. The audio books are perfect, I get into the stories and the time flies by. Plus it keeps me coming back because I want to continue from where I left off.

Good luck finding what works for you!

Hmmmm, this is one thing I could never figure out. You want to get in shape and look better but don't have the motivation todo cardio. The more I hang around fitness boards the more I find this kind of thing happening. I think more than anything this type of thing comes from the fact that most of our lives don't require that we are in shape. In short, our lives are pretty comfortable compared to many others in the rest of the world. It seems like this trend is very American and a big reason for why so many in our country are obese, it's very sickening in my mind.

But anyway...Clement, find a sport that you like such as basketball or tennis or something and try that for your cardio. Or you could try HIIT which I find really fun because you are pushing yourself to the max for a short period of time.

ABSOLUTELY!!! When I was in the Marine Corps I had no choice but to be in shape, but now that I have a "desk" job it really doesn't matter what kind of shape I'm in.

Make sure you drink enough water throughout the day. I think a lot of the lethargy that out-of-shape people (and even active people in the hottest months) feel comes from slight dehydration.
