Hey, I was wondering what types of ways to fight junk food cravings or eat an small amount without
I'm 17, 6 foot 4 around 2 something pounds with around a 27% body fat. I'm trying to get in shape but also get bulked up, but I want my body still to look natural. Basically I'm trying to make my body proportal with my head (because I got a big *** head). At work, my co worker bought some chocolate cake and I couldn't get enough of it. I've been doing good working out and I was supposed to start including creatine (CELL TECH) in my diet. Due to car troubles, I won't get to go to the gym till Wednesday. But if any has any advise to fight the cravings let me know?

And to give an idea of the cake...
It was one of those gourmet chocolate cakes. This those types of cakes you just don't see anywhere. Well to dive you all an idea of how much I ate...
I ate a small piece at 1:15pm today (june 20). I should of but I did. My healthy planned out day went downhill from there. 15 minutes later, I got another piece, twice the size of the first and ate that. I skipped once of my planned meals so that I wouldn't consumed too many calories for my body to handle. Then at 7:15pm, just 15 minutes before one of my schedule meals, I was tempted to eat the last piece while I was cleaning the breakroom. I mean, I couldn't throw it in the trash and waste good food...

The bottom line imho is once you want to loose it bad enough your will power will be enough to not eat that cake.

Just think to yourself, 5 mins later I wont remeber the taste of that cake but those calories will still be inside me hindering my weightloss goals.

Displacing healthy calories for junk food is bad from not only a body composition standpoint but a health standpoint.

When I started losing weight and had cravings I would just say to myself if I eat (fill in your craving here) then its just gonna take one more day until I reach my goal. Why wait another day to suceed for just something that is gonna be in my mouth for what...2-3 mins(CB's point).

Another thing, if you dont have that junk food in your house then it will be a lot harder to eat it. And at work, tell your co-workers that you are trying to eat healthy and lose weight so maybe when they see you reaching for that cake they will remind you of your diet.

So you want to lose weight but your diet is only in check, by your estimation, 80% of the time.....right, not gonna happen. Eating right and smart is not hard people, jesus, have some will power, take a step back and realize that there are millions of people in this world actually suffering and willing to do anything to escape that suffering for the lives we have. Not eating that donut or piece of pizza is real easy when you put things into perspective. Have some willpower and grow up; sorry for the rant but I just cannot stand it when people complain about not losing weight and just not being able to eat right 95-100% of the time, it makes our country look just plain lazy and stupid....

PS: This is something I posted in BB.com forums and thought it might apply here.

3 thoughts -

1. Don't make yourself go hungry. Otherwise, you will be more vulnerable to eating the cake or whatever is around.

2. With respect to sugar, it seems (at least to me) easier to eat none than to eat it in moderation. I can go weeks, months without eating a dessert and not craving it at all. Then, if I DO eat something (pressure from a well-meaning relative at a family get-together or something like that), I find it hard to stop.

3. If you do break down and eat something you regret, tell yourself it's an abberation - that you haven't stopped eating right. I would say don't try to make up for it by working out extra the next day, because you don't want to create the mindset that you can eat whatever you want and "cure" it with longer, harder workouts. Otherwise, you'll be giving in to your cravings again and again and again.
