Well I ran out of my protein powder a few weeks back and I'm looking for some more. Are there any companies that I should avoid? Last tub that I had was Optimum Nutrition (don't agree with Johnka on the taste, but I mostly mixed it in other substances (PWO shake, powdered gatorade, skim milk)). I was thinking about getting a different brand after reading about some possible allergic complications. Along those lines are there any companies I should avoid due to bad protein or are most about the same? Companies that I should look for? I really want to stay with Vanilla as I'm able to use it in a lot of places.

In the end I'd really like to get my daily protein from food, but it's just not possible at this time (money). I'm probably really lacking on protein right now. The plus side is that I'm not eating that much junk...good carbs (fruits, veggies, minimal bread)! It's a work in progress!

In addition I REALLY want to try out Johnka's Protein Pancakes in the latest Men's Fitness. Those look AWESOME! Not sure they'd be good for a cut period though, but I'm going to try them!

Thanks in advance,
Chris D.

I dont think you should have a problem w/ the protein being 'bad'. The major reason to avoid a lot of companies is due to being overpriced.

Nitrotech, Instone, GNC, DesignerSupps, should all be avoided b/c of price IMHO.

What protein you want to get is pretty complicated. Do you mind order online? Do you want straight whey or a blend of proteins? Do you like fruit or classic flavors?

Online ordering, vanilla mainly. Blend of proteins would probably be better (slow release and fast...whey)

Thanks Canadian.

Best bets are www.proteincustomizer.com or
www.trueprotein.com

For a blend just get Milk Protein Isolate and for whey get whatever type you like.

All the flavors from proteincustomizer.com are good and the "black star lab" flavoring from trueprotein.com is excellent.

If you prefer to go the non "blend it yourself route" some good options for straight whey are:
www.allthewhey.com
Champion Nutrition (banana is awesome)from www.BulkNutrition.com

For blends:
Low Carb Grow! from (www.t-nation.com)
Xtreme Formulations Pro Peptide (www.bulknutrition.com)
Evopro by Cytosprot (www.bulknutrition.com)

There is a bunch of options for you to check out.

www.trueprotein.com is very impressive. Extremely cheap rates (even to here in Australia) and excellent quality.
