Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
More good news about fish oil. A study in the recent Am J Clin Nutr demonstrated that supplementing infant milk formula with docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) (found primarily in fatty fish) provided significant improvements in development of vision and acuity, compared to infants who were not fed DHA.
I'm one of those guys who likes to hear both sides of a story before making up my mind. For example, I always vote Democratic but I read the opinion pieces in the Wall Street Journal (even though I rarely agree with them).
To that end, I've read nothing but wonderful things about DHA. As a result I've started taking capsules daily. But all the good news and no detractors seems strange. I'm not look for a conspiracy or anything like that but are there no risks to DHA supplements? Are there no well know people out there trying to debunk all the beneficial claims?
I don't mean to be difficult and I have nothing but respect for your opinion or that of Berardi, et. al but I just don't feel fully informed...
Enteric Coated Fish Oil on sale if you have a Costco membership. Better to pickup in-store of course, I grabbed 3 bottles :} I like this stuff since I _never_ have fish burps with this product.
Kaiser, I usually get the cheapest I can find, as long as it has about 400-500 mg combined dha/epa per gram. Right now I'm using Solgar because it was on sale at Vitamin Shoppe. I'll probably switch to Costco brand after seeing how cheap they are in Happy's link.
UpNorth, I've only ever read good stuff about fish oil. I pop a couple of caps with nearly every meal, getting about 10-12 capsules a day, when I'm not eating a salmon dinner.

DHA/EPA supplementation is treating a deficency it is not like popping an asprin or something that we are not deficient in.
Thanks for the responses! I guess I shouldn't be looking for the storm clouds on a sunny day
Actually, very large amounts can delay/impare blood clotting so their are possible sides.
Less clotting is a mixed bag though, it is good in the sense that it may prevent arteiosclerosis but if you have other problems w/ blood clotting it should be taken into consideratoin
