I just downloaded them and haven't listened yet but I thought I'd pass along.

Have you guys seen/heard Berardi's audio files on his website yet?

Good find Brad.

John just came down to Dallas last weekend for a visit and a seminar. He's a genuinely nice guy, and these audio clips literally are just off the top of his head. Not that he talks about nutrition all the time, but he's a natural speaker.

We did a lot of cooking and came up with some great new ideas to add to Gourmet Nutrition.

Will there be a Gourmet Nutrition II?

You bet Lost Dog. We're deciding which direction to take Gourmet Nutrition, but it will certainly be a project that keeps growing.

I've been listening to these the last few days. Very interesting. Especially the one with Dr. Cordain (author of the Paleo Diet and the forthcoming Paleo Diet for Athletes).

They were a challenge, technically, to listen to, since they were too long for a CD and my only mp3 player is my Sony Clie, which doesn't support the bitrate (or something) of some mp3s out of the box. I installed a 3rd party mp3 app and am now able to enjoy them all.

Thanks for the tip on the files!

Among Berardi's recommendations during that interveiw with Dr. Cordain, he said that he recommended "3-6g of EPA/DHA and 1-2 tsp of flax oil daily"

I'm trying to get my diet straightened out..trying to take my fitness to the next level through nutrition..anyway...3 to 6 grams of EPA/DHA is no easy amount to get daily even with supps. Anyone here actually follow those recommendations daily? It would take a whole bunch of fish oil caps to meet that daily.

Another thing that Berardi said that stuck in my head was "eat like a vegitarian and then add lean protein"..that's an interesting way to think about clean eating. Good philosophy.

My fish oil caps have 180 and 120 of epa and dha. So, it takes 10 caps to come up to 3g per day of combined epa/dha. I take 12 per day, distrubuted across various meals.

I just finished off my bottle of fish oil caps..I'm gonna try to find something stronger...I hate taking so many a day.

What about cod liver oil? (sounds like a laxative)

I'd stick with regular (Costco) fish oil caps Jimbo. Like Lost Dog said, it's pretty easy to get 3 g per day by popping just a couple with each meal.

I probably average less, as I typically only take about 8 caps a day, although I eat seafood about every 3rd day.

Johnka,

How much of the fat in salmon (for instance) is EPA/DHA? If you have a portion of salmon that contains 10g of fat, how much is Omega-3 and how much of that is EPA/DHA?

On JBs recommendations: 3-6g of EPA/DHA combined. It's hard to imaging taking 20 of these pills to get to 6g. I carry them in my pocket (in EZY Dose pill bags (tiny little ziplocks)) and they really fill up the bags now.

LD: The EPA and DHA amounts should be listed on the package. My salmon oil, for instance, has 160 mg of EPA and 240 mg of DHA.

Jimbo: Berardi says cod liver oil is not worth buying. Go with fish or salmon oil.

I meant ACTUAL salmon, not oil.

After listening to the Berardi mp3s, it got me wanting more.

Anybody know where to get other lifting, fitness, and nutrition audio/mp3 files?
