I was checking out the scrawny to brawny website and red up on Biotest Surge and Biotest Grow! my question is: are these ok for a teenager to use?

i'm assuming that since Grow! is a protein supplement that comes from mainly dairy by-products, it's ok. however, i was unsure about the surge pwo drink.

thanks guys

Your balls fall off if you use them.

Just because I have an RIP in my sig line doesn't give you permission to put one in yours.

The grow would be fine, but you would be better off just buying some other protein powders if you are on a budget. If money isn't a problem, you might as well go for the Grow.

Surge would be fine too, just sugar, protein, and some extra amino acids. Nothing you wouldn't find in most peoples pwo shakes.

so ninja: what you're sayin is that the difference between Grow! and whey protein will not make that much of a difference?

i was interested in grow! was for the mixture of whey and micellar casein. the whey dissolves fast and goes to work right away while the casein is taken in by the body over a longer amount of time. i was thinking about, on workout days (2x a week) having a serving of Grow! at night, after my workout. i was thinking about maybe taking the surge during and after the w/o and then about an hour or 2 later, have some solid food + the grow!

any advice is greatly appreciated

Ok, here's what I figure

$22.49 for 2.5 lb of micellar casein (netrinet.com i believe, google micellar casein and its top link on the right)
$19.99 for 6 lb of whey protein (at Sam's or Costco)

$23.99 for 3 lb of Grow

Now, correct me if I wrong, I think Grow is about 70-30 in their mixture of whey/micellar casein.
That would put it at 16.79 for 2.1 pounds of whey, and $7.20 for .9 lbs of micellar casein.

So using those figures $47.91 for 6 lbs of whey and $20 for the micellar casein. So that's $67.91 for 8.5 lbs of grow, whereas it's approx $42.49 for 8.5 lbs of why and micellar casein. However, taste is not brought into the equation.

Grow uses an 80-20 whey to casein in their mix. i'm figuring out the math now. i can live with the taste-hell, i've probably tasted worse.

ok, math is done. for 12.5 lbs of grow! it'd be about $92 bucks. for 12.5 of my special homemade mix, it'd be about $55.81. it'd be 2.5 of MC and 10 lbs of Whey. i'm figuring on aobut 30-35 dollar (i used about $33 for the math) for 10 lbs of whey. so, it'd be a savings of about 36 bucks. i think that's what i'll go with. now, the question is, how would i go about mixin the 2 equally?

couple ideas i got:

1) maybe putting it in a big container w. a lid and shakin like crazy and hopin for the best

2) figure out how many total scoops i'd use per serving and then divide the scoops accordingly between the MC and WP

3) do the same as #1 but in smaller quantities to increase chance of equality.

Great, I didn't want to say anything lower than 80-20 because I figured it was better to make a lower cost rather than a higher one.

Atomic Dog in the Protein Magic report states that it is close to 50% Micellar Casein.

I think it is certainly more then 20%, however.

ooopppppppps

i misread arrggg-i've been a mess today-allergies have just came outta nowhere, tired after a loooong week (we had school while almost every other school around me didn't, not to mention my anxiety for our first game on friday-it definitely felt extremely long), and the pope's death has me all messed up.

it said that milk is made up of 80% casein and 20% milk. i didn't double check before i did all the calculations-i just tried to go from memory and remembered the 80-20-my mistake.

i guess i'll have to find out the ratio or just go with the 70-30. again, my mistake. alright, now on to figure out the ratio or get a general idea

honestly MPI from www.trueprotein.com w/ BSL flavoring is the cheapest way to go. You can subtract some of the MPI and replace it w/ WPI but it isnt really neccisary. If it isnt PWO the more casein the better IMHO.

MPI = Milk Protein Isolate:
http://www.trueprotein.com/store/com...p?idProduct=70
it is(like milk) 80% micellar casein and 20% whey. It is, however, a TON cheaper then micellar casein by itself. This is because they dont have to do any seperation. It is easily the most economical way to get micellar casein and a protein "blend".

BSL = Black Star Labs
When you place an order at trueprotein.com you have to choose what flavor you want and I HIGHLY RECCOMEND you spend the extra money and choose one of the blackstar labs flavors. All of them are amazing and taste better then nearly every protein powder I have ever had. I have had Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, and Orange Creme(awesome) and have loved every one.

that sounds great CB. one question: how many servings do you get per pound? how many scoops do you use? thanks for all your help man.

EDIT: also, how long does your usual order size last you? like how many servings, or workouts? thanks again

Depends, each scoop(28.5g) of MPI has 25 grams of protein which is more then most whey concentrates you buy(Optimuim Nutrition and Champion Nutrition have about 23 grams/serving). This means that an equivelant amount should last you a little longer then most other brands you would buy. Last time I bought 5 pounds and it lasted me a little over 5 months if I remeber correctly.

I usually have 1 scoop or a little less depending on how much protein I need in that meal. If I am on the run and need a meal I will have it as a shake and I also put it in my oatmeal in the morning.

What I usually do is buy like 4-5 lbs unflavored MPI then buy a few different blackstar lab flavor packages seperately from their site. This way I am not getting 5 lbs of the same flavor. I simply mix the flavors with the protein in smaller batches at home. Definitly makes for more variety which is always nice.

That way you can also make it as flavorful as you would like.
