I do solely endurance exercise (about 1hr a day or swimming, riding or running), but have been giving adam's diet a go to get rid of some holiday flab.

it has been working a treat, well after a week anyway however, i am starting to get severe sugar cravings atm? any idea on how to combat this- is it normal, or am i not eating enough carbs, hence the cravings?

any advice appreciated

Sugar cravings mean you are not getting enough energy from your meals, it is just that it is easiest for you to interpret those signals as sugar cravings. Try to up your protein intake a bit and eat more frequently. If the cravings don't go away upping your caloires a bit or trying to have some natural hot chocolate might do it. Good luck!

Pooky, I think that sweet cravings are normal when you first start a diet that limits carbs. I've cycled onto Adam's Diet twice and both times experienced the cravings early in the diet. Don't worry they go away after a week or two. That being said, follow Galya's advice and don't further limit your diet beyond Adam's plan. There should be plenty of calories in there for you and your endurance work.

Hang in there!

Just to make sure that you don't cheat(gasp) from having sugar cravings, try having a sugar free treat. For example, add sugar free sryup to your oatmeal or have a sugar free jello. Hopefully that will kill those cravings.
