I'm thinking about trying the Velocity Diet, and I wanted to get some opinion's on it. If you don't know what the diet is, here is a link:

http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do...itan?id=546491

The thing I'm unsure of is, I'm currently doing the standard cut, 500 calories a day below maintance, for me that's a little more than 2,400 calories. And under the Velocity Diet, I would be consuming around 1,400 calories on non-training days, and about 1,650 on training days. I've often heard that if a person attempts to lose more than 1 or 2 pounds a week then the loss of muscle will be much greater. But Chris Shugart (the creater of the diet) makes it sound like almost muscle loss will happen. Any thoughts on this?

Also, I really don't want to buy Surge and Grow! because they're so expensive. Wouldn't something like gaterade mixed with protein whey work well, instead of using the Surge? And obviously just use regular whey to sub for Grow!

Thanks for the opinions.

I think its dumb as hell. Why cut calories so low and why would you use only liquid meals. If you planned on cutting calories that low you could do it with whole foods just as easily and then get the benifit of not eating the same exact things daily and you would also get all the wonderful micronutrients in food. But it would make it much harder to sell supplements.

I would bet that by the end the only thing that got Chris through the diet was the revolutionary new supplement Spike.

But thats just my opinion.
