Pretty much everyday I eat a bowl of cereal in my PWO window with some lowfat yogurt and usually some protein powder. I'd been adding milled flax (1 tbsp) as well, but heard good things about Uncle Sam's cereal, which already has the flax in it. I found it at the store, and took a look at the ingredients. Indeed, it has whole flax seeds in it. My question is, I thought the body will not digest whole seeds, and that is why you need to grind them up before consuming. Does the flax in Uncle Sam's get digested? It comes in pretty small boxes, and they're relatively expensive, so if not I'd rather go with fiber one or all-bran and added ground flax.

That's true. Whole flax seeds just pass through, undigested.

Can you actually see the whole flax seeds or are you getting that from the ingredients list? If it's the list, they could still be ground. You'd have to hunt around in the cereal to see.

On the cover of the box it looks like the flax seeds are baked into the flakes whole, and on the label I'm pretty sure it says "whole flax seeds". Anyone eat this stuff or know for sure?
