My son is a High School wrestler, he is a 171 pounder, he maintains his weight pretty well so he is not cutting really hard during the week.

If you know anything about wrestling you know that it is probably one of the most physically demanding sports that there is, last weekend at the tournament he was really gassing in his last few matches, physically he is in great shape so I am thinking the problem is nutritional.

My question is: in-between matches what types of food should we be feeding him to help replenish his system and help him maintain a high energy level.

He typically has an hour or two between matches..

Something that I know a lot of the wrestlers did when I was in school was the carb gels, about 5-10 minutes before the match. If you're not familiar with them, you can get them at a local bike shop, for about $1 a piece. They're mostly used for endurance athletes during races/training to give you a shot of energy. That's one thought for right before his match.
