Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
hey
i never dieted b4 so i need help,
im 15 and i want to get my bf% down to 8% (for my abs and stuff to show) and bc i heard abs are made in the kitchen i thought of dieting, i also run alot so it ok, but my question is how do i diet?? for you guys to help me ill tell you what i eat now. a yoohoo(choclate milk) for breakfast, turckey wrap(turkey lattace cheese tomatos and honeymustard) for lunch, i get home and it a bowl of kellogs frosted fiber things, and then for dinner i eat a salad and chiken or pasta, and alos i drink multiple snapples during hte day (like 10 cans). so i was wondering if some1 can help me and tell me what to cut and wut to add, o and yea i eat chocolate when i get home and sweets and stuff
Do a search on the Diet and Nutrition forum too, there is a lot of info there. I'd also suggest checking out the Adam's Diet thread for some principles.
But it should be kind of common sense to realize that you can't pig out on "sweets and stuff" and expect to lose weight.
Check out www.johnberardi.com also, good advice there. You have a lot of reading ahead of you...

You're 15, so you're still growing. Don't think about it as dieting, but if you want to improve your diet to get leaner and stronger, this is a good place to do some reading. Also, as Happy said, books like the Abs Diet are good places for info.
What are your stats; height, weight, bf% (if you've measured it)? Do you weight lift, or just run?
Simple ways to improve would be to drop the yoohoo and eat some eggs in the morning, and some oatmeal if you can. In fact cut back on anything you drink during the day other than water and lowfat or fat free milk (like Snapple... try whole fruit instead), and increase the amount of water you drink. Cut the sweets as well wherever possible, especially later in the day (afterschool). Eat more fruits and vegetables whenever possible. And eat more protein; RipStone listed some good sources.
Like I said before, don't think about it as "dieting," it's better to consider generally improving your diet, it'll give you longer-lasting benefits.
