Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
Hey, I dont need to lose weight, but gain it. Lets get that clear!
But I hate vegetables like everyone and know I need more. I dont have time to make elaborate meals since Im in university and busy, so are frozen veggies alright for nutrients? I heard that flash-freezing preserves nutrient value compared to buying them in stores fresh (says my biology major friends and stuff).
I just do stir fry's and pastas with frozen mixes. I usually buy different kinds through out the weeks. I also use fresh red pepper, garlic, mushrooms, tomato's (and cheese!) and onions.
Oh, I also take a whey protein shake after a workout, and a 'boost' nutrient shake with a bagel in the morning. Im worried about not enough food intake since Im really in the library and at the computer alot.
Frozen fruit and veggies often have more nutrients than fresh.
That's because "fresh" veggies are often days, if not weeks, old. Nutrients start to break down as the days go by.
Frozen fruits and veggies are often frozen within a few hours of harvesting.
If you like them, then eat them! I keep bags of frozen brussels sprouts, green beans, okra, etc. in the freezer for nights when I need a few extra veggies to eat with the normal dinner (like when my family eats rice or potatos, which I eat very little of).
Personally, I even eat canned veggies. They have about the same nutritional value as frozen, but usually a lot more sodium. While I'm not concerned with sodium levels, many are. I eat a can of green beans (usually, the "no added salt" variety) every day.
As far as your post-workout shake, you should have some carbs also. Dextrose, maltodextrin, oats, gatorade/powderade powder are all good options. Even some grape juice will work(but not as ideal). If you wanna gain weight PWO nutrition is key. Your PWO shake should have at least 2:1 ratio or carbs:protien. Then 45-60 minutes later you should have another meal consisting of complex carbs and lean protein with minimal fat. Something like eggs and oats or chicken and brown rice will work.
You bet! So a PWO shake? Because yah, I know I need carbs, but its a pain to make a protein shake, eat carbs, THEN eat dinner (or whatever meal) an hour later.
Yah, canned is no good to me hehe. But frozen works you say, so good!

But your body needs the nutrition around your workout so add the carbs to your PWO shake and then have your dinner an hour later. I bet you will start to grow and get better results.

Whaddya mean you hate veggies like everyone? I don't hate veggies, probably most of us don't.
I personally eat a mixture, not at the same time. For lunches because of the convience I use frozen veggies, and at supper when I have more time I quite often use non-frozen veggies.

Well as somebody who has eaten very badly for a very long time... I think veggies are an acquired taste. I've actually started to enjoy veggies with my meals now.
To the original poster, as somebody else has said already... just shut up and do it.
I'd agree with Obsolete. I don't think most folks hate the veggie. They'd just rather eat almost anything else.
I love veggies, but when I'm in a hurry packing my cooler for the day, the meats, eggs, cheese, nuts, fruit, etc. can't be forgotten. But, if I'm running out of time, the veggies are the ones that get left behind.
So, when I make them, I try to make enough for a few days and prepack them. I also, keep a few things handy that I can just grab and go when I'm too busy to cook veggies. I buy a huge bag of pre-cut broc, cauliflower, and carrots and divide them into small ziplocks at the beginning of the week. I know I could save by cutting them myself, but...
