Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
I saw this a week or two ago and meant to post it. Thanks for doing it for me . I really think this is pretty cool and I tend to agree more with this guy than with the Super Size me thing. I eat a lot of fast food, well not a ton but more than I should. And it doesn't negativly effect me much. Yeah I am young but exercise is a kickass thing. Fast Food itself isn't the worst thing in the world.
If anything its an interesting other side to Super Size Me.

You just said it Danny. You're young. And you exercise. (and you have a penchant for pink baby-doll shirts). None of those statements apply to the vast majority of Americans, most of whom are obese and at risk for CVD.
the link didn't work for me but I think I know what you're talking about.
if it's what i'm thinking it's a really buff dude eating 4,500 calories a day.
so you have average joe eating more than he should not mindful to "what" he eats other than what the average person would eat. VS deffinatly not average joe...largely eating with a consious mind.
it's interesting and points out that McDonalds in itself is not an evil beast...but I hardly think it's representative of the average american (I don't think the original is representative either but IMO it's closer)
The link isn't working for me either. But I've seen it before, and his conclusion was something like workout, and don't drink your calories (sodas, juice, etc.), and you'll be fine. Well, you might be able to look good, but without proper micronutrients, vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, EFA's, etc., etc., from whole foods, you're digging your own grave (thus my sig line).
I've read this a few times. The only beef is that he claims not to have changed his routine, just his diet. Yet, he actually drops fat during this "event."
So, doesn't that mean that this diet is better for fat loss than his (I can only assume) healthy diet from before he did this?
I think there will come a time when you realize you are selling yourself short by eating a lot of fast food.
To put so much effort into training and then not the same amount of effort into recovery and replenishment is not the best approach.
You'll see that even Dave Tate and the elitefts.com board are no longer promoting the "McDonalds diet" in their approach. They are using nutrition help like Berardi and Serrano to eat like athletes.
Recovery is better acheived with whole nutritious food than it is with a combo meal.
While fast food isn't the worst thing in the world, fast food certainly is the worst thing in the nutrition world. Fries are full of nasty trans-fats.
When research has shown that coronary artery progression begins in adolescence, then we should all be mindful of fast food intake.
Strong genetics, youthfullness, and exercise might keep you immune to the negative consequences of fast food, but we both know you can be doing better.
Craig, I actually hit that point already. I just had another post called Clean Eating where I decided to get back on the healthy bandwagon. My workouts have been pretty crappy lately and I have been feeling pretty run down. I think a lot of it has to do with really bad nutrition. I get enough calories and a pretty good amount of protein but its all the other crap weighing me down.
But I still like this link. I don't in any way think that Macdonalds or Wendys are the devil and I do know from experience that you can eat it on occasion with little negatives. I am going to miss my double cheeseburgers and classic triples though.

Hmm I wouldn't even consider taking that article into account. The guy was fit, healthy and active when he started out and so could put the effort into intense gym routines.
Interesting to note his BP went up, he had room to move on his figure. If he had been normal when he started out then he would have been too high at the end of the 'experiment'.
