I have been eating very consistenly for the past 3 months(since the start of college). Not to say I wasn't eating clean before but my diet was different(still clean) due to time constants. Anyways I'm 18, 5'8", 150. I think my diet is pretty solid but just wanna make sure. One question I have, however, is when to add some fruit??

7:30am: 1 egg, 5 egg whites, 1/4 cup oats, 1 scoop whey

10:10am: Johnka pb banana bar

10:40-12noon: workout

12noon: PWO shake- 1 scoop whey, 2 scoops gatorade powder, 1c skim milk, 12 oz water, 5g creatine

1:30 or 2pm: either 2 slices exkeil bread or 1 c brown rice w/ veggies and either can of tuna or chicken breast

4:30: 24 almonds, lettuce wrap consisting of 3-4 leaves of romain lettuce, no sodium turkey breast and veggies

7:00pm: some form of protein(chicken breast or salmon generally), large salad, oilve oil dressing

10pm: apx. 1c no salt cottage cheese, 1tbsp natty pb, 1/2 scoop whey

Thanks in advance for replies/critque.

I guess the first question would be, bulking, cutting, or just maintaining?

I think overall, it looks pretty good. Do you really count out 24 almonds? That's great discipline if you do, I just grab a handfull or 2. Seriously, I think it looks pretty good...

Given that, you can add fruit later in the day if you like. Also, an apple or some berries in the morning with breakfast would be good. One thing I do is add some frozen fruit (rasp and black berries, peaches, strawberries, etc.) into my oatmeal. It cools it down so you can eat it right away and antioxidants are your friends.

Yeah, I buy the frozen bags of blackberries, cranberries, raspberries and strawberries. Those rock in cereal, and I put them in my shakes. Good call on the fruit though, that's not really something I noticed.

hey i count out my almonds too. i dont trust my handfuls, id grab twice as many and tell myself its only 22. if you're only adding a small portion of fruit, like an apple, id say have it at the 7:00 meal since you have veggies at the 1:30 and 4:30 meals. diets looking good though, im doing the same thing with the very slow bulk. good luck to you

Yea, I was thinking the morning would be the best time for fruit. I sometime have some fruit(apple) ppwo. Also, for breakfast I sometimes have 3/4c oats and whey instead of what I have listed above. Thanks for the adivice guys.

Looks like a pretty solid diet you have there. Like Fishr said, fruit anytime for you. Have a little fruit with every meal, and don't skimp on the berries.

You could also up the veggies - steamed spinach, broccoli, and/or asparagus top the list.

Have you ever tried the grain quinoa? It's extremely healthy, and would make a good substitute for bread and/or rice.

Thanks Johnka. When I have veggies I have a lot. The problem is I love broccolo/cawaflower/green beans/aparagus but they tend to upset my stomach so I stick with spinach, peppers, tomotoes, zuchinni, romaine lettuce, cucumbers mostly. However, I sometimes have other veggies too.

I have never heard of grain quinoa...what is it?

Quinoa is a leafy grain from a spinach-type plant in the Peruvian and Bolivian Andes. Good stuff!
