Berardi's Massive Eating plans cover raising your calories slowly as you start a bulking cycle, but I don't see anything on going the other way.

I've got one week left in my "bulking" routine and then want to shed some fat.

I've been at about 3800 cals for many weeks now. Should I jump right down to cutting levels or take it down slowly?

As always, I'm impatient, but I don't want to compromise the hard earned muscle.

Thanks for any advice!

I would think that a big change would throw your metabolism out of whack and you may lose some muscle. Personally I would make a slow change.

Yeah, from what I've seen on here, the suggestion seems to be make it a slow change, like dropping 100 - 250 calories a week. If you don't, your body will just be begging for food, and unless you have extremely strong will power, you'll probably just start tearing into food (I know I did). Another thing I do when shifting, is making sure I use fitday religiously while cutting. I don't really worry too much about it when I'm bulking, but for me, the only way I won't over eat is knowing I have to be accountable to that damn food log. It sucks when you're trying to stay @ like 2800 calories, and a big fat 3500 is staring you in the face. K, I'll stop rambling now. Good luck man!

Thanks. Seems like a long time before I even start losing. At 250 a week, it'll take about a month to get going. Seems like a long time.

Sorry, I meant a day. 100-250 calories a day. My bad, it shouldn't take you more than a week. MY BAD!!!

i think a week might even be too fast, at least for me. what i do is take 1-2 weeks working down to maintenance, while adding more cardio. i stay at that for a while and any changes i make after reflect my results (how much im losing, or not losing). again its only me, but i know if i only took a week id miss the food and might not be able to stick to the new limitations. either way, good luck man
