Diet, Nutrition and SupplementationPost here for supplement reviews or nutritional advice. If you're trying to get "ripped abz" THIS is where you should be.
I wanted to give you guys a heads-up for a new book being published around Christmas.
John Berardi and I have been working on it for some time now, and it will be the answer to all your questions about how to cook healthy meals for different purposes, and the nutritional science behind them. There are even little sidebars with stories to keep you interested throughout the book. Here is the official advertisement.
I really busted my ass to put together over a hundred recipes that you guys have been asking for, and some that you would never expect! John Berardi has been adding his nutritional genius, and I am simply blown away at his insights.
Last August, I had the pleasure of previewing one of Johnka's recipes for granola bars that will appear in the book - one that he actually cooked for me. What can I say? Typical of Professor John Williams.... this granola bar not only tasted great, it smelled fantastic as well. Even when I made it... yummm.
As with any of you who have tried Johnka's recipes from this board, I am eagerly awaiting publication. Oh yeah, it'll be nice to have some Berardi thrown in, but frankly, we all know we're buying it for Johnka's recipes!
While John/John (Kerry/Edwards) may not have won, we know this John/John combo (TWO large professors for the price of one!) will be a winner.
I won't bother tooting your horn by saying what a great idea this was, or how something like this is just what I've been looking for, or this is something that's been missing from the fitness scene for too long, or how respected you guys are and that this will be an automatic must have for me when it becomes availible. I won't do that
Looking at the advert it looks like it's going to be an e-book. Are their any plans of putting this out into a hardback version?
Your bars(PB banana, cranberry walnut brownies, & the latest granola bars) have saved me through many road trips and out of town stays!
I feel much better eating those than the pre-packaged ones, especially when I need to supplement sometimes 2x a day with "quick" food while on the road.
I'm in. Any estimation on the price? (Reason I'm asking is to see whether I can buy it myself or if I'm going to need parents to get it for Christmas ).
Originally posted by Bo: I just have a question. How exactly is Gourmet Nutrition going to be different from Tailor-Made nutrition and do I need both?
Bo, Tailor-Made Nutrition is a book by Berardi which walks you through the steps for designing a personalized nutritional program for your goals, rather than a "one-size fits all" approach. It will tell you what to eat and why.
Our book "Gourmet Nutrition" is a recipe book with sections on how to use the recipes for various goals. It provides more recipes than you can shake a stick at, all of which are delicious, and they're designed within the parameters of building an awesome physique.
Whether you should buy one or both depends on your goals and progress. If you don't know where to begin in the kitchen, then "Gourmet Nutrition" is a must. Or if you're a whiz in the kitchen, but you need some new ideas for healthy, delicious meals, then our book is also a must. If you're not satisfied with your nutritional program as a whole, then "Tailor-Made Nutrition" is something that will turn that around.
The two books were made to compliment one another.

Thanks for the compliments Kaiser! I'm glad you liked the sneak-preview of the granola bars. I had to wrap them up quickly and mail them before I ate them all
I know I have a lot of recipes out there, but I've spent the last couple of months experimenting in the kitchen to improve the taste of my existing recipes, and creating about 80 brand-spanking new ones. The book will have over 100 recipes in total - enough to last years.
So if you liked my old recipes, you're REALLY going to like these. I'm saying this honestly, not as a salesman, since that's not much in my nature.

Thanks for the support Gobbla
It's going to be published first as an e-book, but we're trying to arrange for a certain company to pick it up in paper.

I'm glad the bars have worked for you Cappuccino - some people have a tendency to overcook them. I've really improved the granola bar recipe - even the one in Berardi's recent article at t-mag is an older version. The ones I sent Kaiser are going in the new book.
I also have a bunch of new bars - including a Cinnamon-Raisin that is perfect for a low-GI P+C meal. Also, a bunch of new, tastier P+F bars.

I have no idea about the price - that's JB's department. But I think he's aware that most of the potential buyers aren't independently weathly

I spent a lot of time experimenting in the kitchen to produce new variations of older protein bar recipes, as well as some brand-spanking new ones. Some of my favorites are a mixed nut bar (P+F), and a post-workout chocolate chip cookie dough bar that tastes a lot like the MetRX version. But my bar doesn't have the questionable ingredients, and it's easy to make
Okay Doc. After seeing your recent pictures (I don't even want to think of the improved pictures) and tasting some of your other recipes I have signed on to be notified of the release.
Looking forward to the new recipes!

Nope, I saw it in London. It was pretty cool but I'm sure that I didn't have full appreciation for its significance. As I understood it that was "the key" that provided the beginning of deciphering hieroglyphics but I'm sure there's more to the story.
Originally posted by TDPurcell: Jonka. I am so looking forward to having a copy of your book! My sister is a vegitarian, and is into nutrition. Would your book be good for her too?
TD, almost every recipe is high protein, and there is a lot of meat. There are about 20 or so vegetarian-friendly recipes, but it's definitely oriented towards us omnivores. Get the book for yourself and find a vegetarian cookbook in Borders for your sister
I saw that this book was released...and the sample pdf file is quite the tease! Lists all the recipes and the entire table of contents then gives you one recipe per section.
The layout looks really nice and very professional. Pretty pictures too!
I'm adding it to my Christmas wish list...if I can wait that long !
