Hi,

is there a difference between supplementing with 30mg of Zinc and 450mg of Magnesium as found at my local pharmacy, and Zinc Monomethionine Aspartate plus Magnesium Aspartate packaged as ZMA?

Is there an optimum time to take the ZMA?

I'm intrigued by the claims of deeper sleep.

Is there a maximum amount of whey protein the body can absorb and utilize at any one time? I sometimes double or triple up on the scoops when running late.

Thanks,

david

#2. 30 minutes before bed.
#3. Dunno

Did I help?

Question 1 was a two-parter, smart ass.

Thanks.

#1. Most things I've read indicate that the Aspartate form is more readily digested than the forms you would get at a typical pharmacy.
#2. Like OG said, 30-45 minutes before bed. However, if you're looking to get your pre-bed protein, which is often the slow-digesting form that is nearly always accompanied by calcium, you should take it earlier. So take it an hour and half or so before bed, and then your cottage cheese or whatever it is right before you go to bed. This is because calcium interferes with the uptake of one or all of the components of ZMA. Hopefully Johnka or someone can elaborate.
#3. I don't know either, though obviously the pros always recommend a constant flow of protein for a reason, instead of the 3 large meals a day like most people do. So I'm assuming there is a benefit to more frequent, smaller amounts of protein.

alot of ppl do homemade zma concoctions and say they get the same benefit from the commercial products. only experience can confirm that.
