I was just wondering what you guys think about consuming all of your PWO shake immediatley after a workout vs. having half of it right after and then sipping on the other half for the next 30 minutes post workout. Some people think that the latter allows your body to digest the protein better. Opinions? Thanks

I think that you might miss some of the benefits of the immediate "window of oppurtunity". Why not start sipping it halfway through your workout and down the last half immediately after? That'll spread the digestion, but it will remain closer to the optimal timing window.

I wasn't really thinking about sipping it for 30 minutes post workout...I was just wondering what people thought about it cus I've been reading that some people do it. Just wanted to know if it is necessary of if their is any proof of this technique being better.

Your idea is a good one, however. I just have issues with having liquid while workin out.

I must have liquid while working out!

I have two liter bottles that I take to the gym. Both have got a protein powder and gatorade shake, diluted in a liter of water. I put one in my locker for afterward and drink the other starting 10 minutes before the workout and continuing throughout.

The PWO drink takes about 15-30 minutes to finish off (it's a whole liter, afterall).

I think either of your methods will work. You have about 45 optimum minutes after that workout to get that protein down your gullet. I think that your body processes protein a little at a time. I think if you downed the whole thing, it would stay in your system until it was fully digested anyway. As long as you immediately drink a good portion and then keep the rest flowing, I'd think you'd be fine.

This is all just my, uneducated in nutrition, opinion, by the way...

Sounds good.

Personally, I'd throw up eating during or right before a workout...I dunno why
