what exactly happens to your body if you do not take in your required amount of protein? example: i weigh 150 and should take in +150g protein everyday right, but what happens to my body if i take in say only 100g, or 50g? would muscle be broken down, or just unable to grow, or does one day out of a year not make that much a difference, etc.

And major action will certainly make you feel a bit uncomfortable, which is absolutely fine. You've gotta get excited about feeling uncomfortable, you've gotta love feeling slightly uncomfortable, because you know that you're stepping outside the boundaries that you used to create.
