Hey guys, quick question. I like to keep my fat intake at around 25-35% of total cals in a day, percentages differ from workout and non-workout days ofcourse. I eat a fair amount of nuts,(walnuts, almonds), including other sources of fat such as olive oil, flax oil, and fish oil. My question is, Im tired of having to eat nuts as a source of fat, I dont like any type of nut at all, would it be cosher to switch to nut oils instead? For example: almond oil, walnut oil, cashew oil, sunflower oil etc. Do these oils yield the same benefits as nuts? Any disadvantages to taking oil vs. the nuts? Thanks.

Walnut oil would be your best bet. Or you could just eat more olive oil and fish oil.

Obviously, you won't get the fiber and protein from nut oils.

I use walnut oil for most of my salads. It's pretty good tasting, too.

I also have a lot of fish oil capsules in a day (12-15, depending on what else I'm eating that day).

You could use straight fish oil, too, but you'd have to make sure that it's in something that would have a complimentary taste. You could add it to sauces for stir frys, but you should add it for flavor, not for the actual frying process. Fish oil should not be used for high heat cooking, although adding it to the sauce at the end shouldn't be a problem.

You get distilled/flavoured fish oil. I'm not sure about what it contains but a friend of mine uses the lemon version, I'll take a look at the ingredients next time. Personally I can take the taste of the regular stuff, it's cheaper and considering my grocery bills are really killing me at the moment with this bulk I don't intend on changing it!

Berardi was also talking about garlic/chilli flavoured flax oil although I've never seen it anywhere personally.
