No idea if anybody's gonna notice this post next to Anna's behemoth over there but I was wondering if anybody could remind/clarify about mixing creatine with citrus fruits. Is it ok or does it minimize the effects?
Or maybe this was an old rumour that I'm bringing out of the past...

Pretty sure that citrus renders the creatine useless. Pretty huge thread over there by Anna huh?!

If you were able to search MH I believe coulditbe had something on this. Citric acid breaksdown creatine. It is usually recommended with grape or apple juice.

I don't believe citrus renders creatine useless. Creatine takes a lot longer to break down than most people think.

Is that based on your experience, tests, or an educated guess? Just curious.

Tests. I don't have a link to the graphs anymore, but they are somewhere on www.degussa.com.
Also, if you search Roger Harris and Creatine on the US Patent database, you'll find similar graphs showing the slow degradation of creatine over time. Yes it's sped up in an acidic solution, but not that much.
Wish I knew the links,
Craig

I trust ya
I won't make a habit of it, but I won't worry now if I'm stuck with OJ for my creatine.

Rock,
You'd be surprised at the pH levels of some drinks. The pH of Gatorade is 3.4 (or so). That's relatively acidic. OJ is a 3. I found this site, and I presume it is correct:
http://biology.clc.uc.edu/scripts/pHResl.pl
Some interesting results.

wow, I would have thought that lemon juice would be way up there. I would still rather have someone squeeze gatorade in my eye than a lemon though!

That is some cool stuff. Sodas are awful! No wonder they rot our teeth...
Would maltodextrin and dextrose fall under "Supplement‚ Sugar‚ sucrose and water"? If so, they are considerably less acidic than gatorade or OJ... is that signifcant?
