Unhappy

I went down with a nasty stomach/flu type thing last Friday ( a bunch of my friends have it), got better on Sun, but fever is on me again today. On Fri I started taking GSE (grapefruit seed extract) and drinking fresh squeezed orange juice (an orange every few hours). Try to stay well hydrated. I haven't had any protein (but a shake), bacause I get nauseous even from the thought.
I was wondering if you have tried any supplements/remedies to beat a nasty fly faster. I have to be in the gym every day training people and I do not want to stand there dizzy like hell for long.
Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Sorry to hear that Gayla. I've never found anything better than lots of rest and hydration.

I also supplement with vitamin C, a multi, and ZMA when I'm sick...all of which help boost the immune system.

Here's a good article dealing with this issue:
http://www.ruggedmag.com/index.php?type=Article&i=1&a=2

The only thing I disagree with in this article is eating high protein (1-1.5g/lb lean body mass). I'm sure this is good for you, but when I'm sick my body can't handle a big steak, or chicken breast for that matter. Even protein powder has a hard time going down. So I usually make a big stew or soup in the crock pot and dip into that several times a day.

Thanks for the article Johnka, appreciate it.
The only thing that goes down is soup anyhow so I will just stick with that for a few days.High protein has never worked when I've been sick, though the low GI carbs make sense.
I am off to rest and hydrate, have a nice rest of the day.
