Question

Hello everyone. I just recently came here from MensHealth. I have run into a bit of a problem and here it is. On the summer I was able to eat 6 meals every 2-3 hours but now that school has started my meal plan has slowed and not been as strict as it use to be. I was gaining weight up untill maybe 3 weeks before I started school, which was on Sept. 2.

Before I went back to school I weighed 124 in the morning. Around 127 during the day. I just weighed myself now and it said 120.6. Im a little disappointed because Im fearing that I lost a bit of weight.

Right now I get up around 6:20. I get out of school at 2:10. My lunch is usually at 11:00 or 12:00 depending on what classes I have. I workout on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Can someone here help me establish a new meal plan that would suit my needs? Thanks in advanced.

Now I have been through this before so I know you guys need my weight, height, my activity level and such to determine my calorie needs.

Stats:
Weight: 120
Height: 5' 6.5"
Workout: Book Of Muscle
Activity Level: Moderately Active

Old Meal Plan:
Meal 1: 4 Eggs Whites 2 Whole Eggs, 2 whole wheat toast with organic peanut butter. Glass of skim milk.

Snack: Yogurt with blueberries and almounds. Glass of water.

Meal 2: Chicken sandwhich on whole wheat bread. Apple, and Almounds. Glass of skim milk and water.

Snack: Can of tuna with omega-3 and flax seed oil supplements. Glass of water.

Dinner: Chicken with salad and a veggie. Glass of water.

Snack: Cottage Cheees.

You could buy RTD( ready to drink) protein drinks ... Metrx and myoplex make good ones. You could also put a scoop of whey and some oats in a bottle (shaker cup if you have one) and then add some milk or water at school...shake and drink. Drink it between clases in the hall or in class. Most teachers don't mind if you have a water bottle anyways. Hope that helps.

You don't say what time classes start or whether you have any small breaks between classes (other than lunch).

Assuming class starts around 8 or 8:30, have a sandwich and some nuts just before sitting down for the first class. Take some nuts or fruit that you can wolf down between classes. You could also make a large thermos (for two snacks) of high powered smoothie to take with you every day. That can go down real fast if you need it to.

It sounds like you really only need a couple of meals/snacks before you get out of school, right?

Eat when you wake up. Again before class. Once between classes. Lunch. After school snack. Dinner. Snack.

It's more important to keep food going in than making sure that they are actually meals. Snacks are fine, just try to make them healthy and high calorie. If it's too hard to make snacks big enough, then by all means have more snacks with less time in between. Eating six times should be the minimum, but some people divie their food up in 7, 8, 9 meals and snacks (I eat about nine times per day, personally, which counts my snack as soon as I wake up and my bedtime snack).

Thanks for the replies. I'll let you know more of the time scale here.

6:20 I get up and make oatmeal or something quick. (I have Myoplex MRP but its show thick! Anyone know of a way to make it more drinkable?) Then I get in the shower and am out of the shower by 7:00. Im doing little like getting dressed and such. Im out of the house by 7:10 and in school by 7:15. Classes start at 7:35. We have five classes during the day and they are anywhere from 45 minutes to 50 minutes long excluding the "long block." This block is 90 minutes of one class. We have 4 minutes to go from one class to another and we cant eat in the middle of the hall ways or during the class. We had a rotant problem last year so they arent allowing food anyway but the caf. I dont have time to do anything with that 4 minutes I've already been late for 2 classes. Our lunch is 30 minutes long. Do you need to know anything else about the time schedule?

CtA, sounds like you're in a tough predicament. I guess with the rule preventing food outside of the cafeteria, your only option could be a shaker bottle and MRP's. If they allow drinks you're all set. Muscle Milk would be a good option.

What you might try to do is talk to one of the teachers after class. Just tell them that if you go for a long time without eating that you tend to get dizzy and have a hard time focusing. They might let you drink a shake/eat something quick if you talk to them outside of class.

Alright thanks DKing and Johnka. I do have an MRP and it's Myoplex Original. It just is so thick. Is there any way to get down the thickness and make it more drinkable?
